Danko, National Secretary E. E. Vargo and National Vice President Zoltán B. Emri. Pittsburgh City Controller visits Home Office, joins WPA PITTSBURGH — Both bowlers and non-bowling guests will have plenty to see and do at the 46th Annual William Penn Associa­tion National Bowling Tourna­ment and Scholarship Days to be held here May 26 to 28. For bowlers, the main attrac­tion will be the singles, doubles and team bowling competitions to be played Saturday and Sunday at Princess Lanes in Whitehall, Pa., near downtown Pittsburgh. But all guests will be able to enjoy a wide variety of activities, giving them a taste of our Associa­tion’s fraternal spirit, the host city’s beauty and history, and Pittsburgh’s diverse ethnic heri­tage. The weekend’s activities will officially begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday with the annual meeting of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Founda­tion. At approximately 6:00 p.m. the Louis L. Varga Scholars Guild will hold its annual meeting. Both meetings will be held at the Pitts­burgh Hilton Hotel, headquarters for this year’s tournament. From 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. a special reception will be held at the hotel for all bowlers and their guests. Members will be able to enjoy food and beverages as they renew old acquaintances and warm up to the fraternal spirit of the weekend. The opening ceremony will be held at the lanes at 9:00, followed immediately by the team bowling event. For non-bowling guests a sight­seeing tour of Pittsburgh will be offered from noon to 4:00 p.m. Saturday. The tour will include a visit to the famous Nationality Rooms at the University of Pitts­burgh’s Cathedral of Learning. The cost for the tour is $8 per person. Reservations can be made by calling National Secretary E. E. Vargo at (412) 231-2979. On Saturday evening the focus shifts back to the hotel for the annual tournament awards ban­quet. Cash bar will open at 6:00 with dinner served at 7:00. Fol­lowing the dinner program, guests are invited to enjoy dancing to a live band until midnight. Shuttle service to the bowling lanes will resume Sunday morn­ing at 7:30. The doubles and singles competitions will begin at 9:00. While bowlers try their best to win individual and team honors, they will also try to bowl that perfect game that could win them $10,000. To be eligible for the $10,000 prize, a bowler must be a life benefit member of the William Penn Association by April 1, See 'Bowling’ Page 2 PITTSBURGH — A workshop teaching young adults how to lobby for the human rights of Hungarians in Rumania and other East European states will be held June 3 and 4 at Camp Rolling Hills in Wellsburg, W.Va. The lobbying workshop is being sponsored by the William Penn Assocition and the Hungari­­an Communion of Friends (Magyar Barad Közösség). It is designed for people ages 17 to 28 who want to become active in the human rights strug-PITTSBURGH - The Home Office recently received a special visit from one of the Associa­tion’s newest and most famous members, Pittsburgh City Con­troller and Mayoral Candidate Tom Flaherty. In the presence of the National Officers, Mr. Flaherty signed an application for a $10,000 ordi­nary life plan and thus joined his mother as a member of the William Penn. National President Stephen G. Danko then led the entire Home gles of Hungarians living outside of Hungary. The workshop will present in­structors who have both practical lobbying experience and a clear understanding of the needs of Hungarians in East Europe. It will focus on practical and effective ways of contacting and influencing public officials and the mass media. Among the methods to be discussed will be organizing local pressure groups, writing and distributing news releases, writing letters to editors Office staff in welcoming the Democratic Party endorsed cand­idate for Mayor of Pittsburgh. "We are pleased to welcome Mr. Flaherty to the William Penn’s fraternal family, and we wish him well in the present campaign,” President Danko said. Mr. Flaherty spoke to the as­sembled employees, telling them it was "a privilege to meet this fine staff. I am sure each of you has contributed, and will con­tinue to contribute, your best and public officials, building alli­ances with other interest groups, and developing communication channels to public officials and the news media. The workshop will also offer a discussion on the characteristics of American politics. The staff for the workshop will include National President Ste­phen G.
