October 1988, William Penn Life, Page 7 m I -D- Minutes of |n Memóriám the Board of Directors meeting held June 20-21-22,1988 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Continued from Page 6 ■ It was moved, seconded and the Board adopted that each branch submit a list of their social members to the Home Office by January 31 of each year. ■ It was moved, seconded and the Board ratified that commissions be paid on the sale of annuity riders on ordinary life policies. ■ National Secretary Vargo stated that the Association has received several bids for printing of our Official Publication. It was moved, seconded and the Board referred the matter of the publication contract to the Executive Committee for their recommendation to the September Board meeting. ■ It was brought to the attention of the Board that there were many Hungarian refugees that have fled from the Transylvania (Romania) area into Hungary and were seeking aid. It was moved, seconded and the Board authorized that the William Penn Association establish a matching fund for contributions from branches and members for the aid of Hungarian refugees fleeing from Transylvania into Hungary. ■ It was moved, seconded and the Board authorized a donation of $3,000.00 to Hungarian Reformed Church of America and to the Calvin Synod United Church of Christ for their combined youth camp program to be held in August, 1988. ■ The Board of Directors acknowledged receipt of letters from Mr. Pete Kuhn, retired Vice President and Mr. William Arbanas. ■ Sincere thanks and appreciation are expressed to Director and Mrs. John Molnár for the kind hospitality extended to the Official Family visiting their home following the banquet. ■ There being no further business, Chairman Arvay adjourned the meeting at 12:30 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Frank J. Radvany Secretay of the Board KALMAN MECS PITTSBURGH — Kalman Mecs, 68, a math professor at the Community College of Allegheny County (Pa.), died of a heart attack Sept. 5,1988, at his home in Mt. Lebanon, Pa. Mr. Mecs was a member of Branch 352 Coraopolis, Pa. He held academic degrees from the University of Szeged, Eötvös Lorand University and Queen Erzsébet University, all in Hungary, and from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh. He was past president of the Hungarian Professional Society. He also was organist-choirmaster for St. Ann’s Hungarian Church in Hazelwood, Pa., for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Corneliia; two daughters, Kinga Gergely of Ithaca, N.Y., and Melinda Bessko of Squirrel Hill, Pa.; two sons, Dr. András of McMurray, Pa., and Dr. Sándor of Greentree, Pa.; and seven grandchildren.
