A choir of employees entertained the residents with renditions of traditional carols. PITTSBURGH — The Home Office shared the Christmas spirit with the residents at the Knights of St. George Home when a choir of 17 employees visited the Home Dec. 16, 1986. The group was greeted by Paul Kovács, Home administrator, and his staff, then mingled with the residents before enjoying lunch. After lunch, Father Fred Becker led a special prayer service in the Home chapel, which featured singing by the choir to the accompaniment of Fraternal Director Elizabeth Szabó on the organ. Executive Vice President John F. Kenawell presented gifts to Father Fred and the nuns who serve at the Home. All the residents were gathered together to hear a selection of Christmas carols sung by the choir. Many of the residents joined in the singing of their favorite carols. The residents were then given gifts by the Home Office "elves,” Donna Griffin and Karen Naccarato who dressed in elf costumes for the visit. The gifts were provided by the Association and donations from members. We thank all those who sent donations and gifts for the residents. Your generosity helped brighten their holiday. We also thank Elizabeth Szabó for coordinating the gifts and donations and for providing excellent accompaniment on the organ and piano. Thanks also to choir director and Home Office manager George "Pete” Charles. Finally, we thank all the employees who gave up part of their lunch hours during December for choir practice: Amy Codan, Suzanne Deak, Vivian Findon, Toni Garofalo, Donna Griffin, Robert Kapinus, Marian Lynch, Karen Naccarato, Barbara Robison, Gerry Robison, Beverly Shoup, and Joyce Turkoly-Joczik. Special thanks to National Auditor Louis Fodor, National Sale Director Dan Wahl and Frances Furedy, administrative assistant to the National President, who joined us on our visit. We are seeking volunteer bricklayers and stonemasons and an electrician who can participate in a spring project for this work. Each of these would be a fine project for a Branch or members who have the necessary talents. We would like to hear from any of our members who are available for these projects.
