Br. 129 coordinator retires By AI Bartfay Branch 129 Reporter COLUMBUS, OH — The end of 1986 saw the retirement of Irene Voss as branch coordinator in Columbus. Irene has been a part of the Columbus William Penn office since 1970. She has been an important part of the "Columbus glue” (talented members, hard work and fun) that has held the branch together over the years. This past September, Irene was awarded a beautiful silver plate by the branch and a Plaque of Appreciation for her "labor of love” on behalf of the branch. Though she is gone from her regular post at the agency office at 975 South Parsons, she is not forgotten. Many of her friends are still contacting her to keep up-to-date on the latest William Penn policies, either by visiting her neatly kept home at 510 East Moler on the southside or by calling her at (614) 444-1702. Our tip of the Magyar kalap goes to this very special lady septegenarian. March 1987 marks the 57th wedding anniversary of two of Columbus’ most vigorous members, David and Margaret George, the parents of three grown children. Their daughters, Marge and Velma, were both branch officers this past year. Their son David Jr. is a pharmacologist living in Connecticut. Along with a contingent of other Columbus members this Irene Voss past year, David and Margaret kept busy with William Penn Centennial activities, attending banquets and events in Pittsburgh, Ligonier, Pa., and Dayton, Ohio. Otto Leonardo and his son Jeff recently returned to Hungary to attend the funeral of Otto’s mother. Jeff reported that there was quite a bit of snow and fog in evidence in Budapest. Our "swing into spring” April meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. April 8 at Leonardo’s. Whether you are an "old member” or a "new member”, we hope to see you there.
