Behuncik, stated to the Convention that it would be fitting and proper for the delegates to remember this historic occasion which will be held in Philadelphia and attended by President Ronald Reagan and Chief Justice Warren Burger. Since we will be unable to attend this celebration, Delegate Behuncik asked the Convention here assembled to take part in a small and special way by rising for a few moments and meditate on our glorious freedoms enjoyed by us as United States citizens and deprived of them by so many subjugated people, especially in Communist controlled countries such as Hungary, Polland, Slovak, etc. Delegate Behuncik offered the following prayer: As our Convention assembles in this room, We thank you Lord for giving us the benefits guaranteed by the United States Constitution which our forefathers adopted two hundred years ago the 17th day of September. We have the many rights only because we have the United States Constitution which we often take for granted and which too many of us never think about as to the how, the why and the because on which our rights are based. My brothers and sisters, please give thought in the quiet of your hearts and inner spirits to the great blessings which are ours because we have the United States Constitution. (Silence) We meet freely, we go to our own churches, we can’t be compelled to testify against ourselves. In your lives and in your prayers, please continue to ask our Almighty Father to make certain that our nation will never lose sight of its great destiny so that our children and grandchildren for generations to come will preserve these great rights which Americans have enjoyed for two hundred years.
