Branch 800 Altoona, PA By Harold E. Robinson Branch 800 Reporter The regular monthly meeting of Branch 800 was held Nov. 3 at Our Lady of Lourds Church Hall in Altoona at 7:30 p.m. Charles Matko presented a re­port on the fall banquet. Sixty­­eight people attended the affair and listened to the guest speaker, Blair County District Attorney William Haberstroh, who spoke on the justice system. The committee for the banquet was Charles Matko, chairman, Vince Franks and Ed De Zelski. It was decided to hold our memorial Mass for deceased members at Our Lady of Lourds Church at 9:00 a.m. on Thanks- I giving Day. Plans were made for our Christ­mas party to be held at 6:00 p.m. Dec. 11 at the church. Joseph Masic, Branch 800 pres­ident, and his wife Emma will celebrate their 50th wedding an­niversary in December. They re­cently celebrated their anniver­­! sary at a surprise party sponsored by their seven children. A Mass was held at St. Leo’s to celebrate the occasion, followed by the party held in the church’s I hall. Joseph Masic and the former Emma Spearing were married at St. Leo’s Church in Altoona on Dec. 28, 1937 by Father Ray­mond Couples. In addition to I their children, the Masics have 14 grandchildren. Branch 8019 Pittsburgh, PA Branch 8019 members met Nov. 11 at St. Boniface Church to make plans for their annual Christmas party. The members agreed to donate turkeys to six needy families in their community and to give Christmas candles and tins of j cookies to area shut-ins this Christmas. The branch will send soap and boxes of facial tissue to all the residents at the William Penn Home for the Elderly in Wells­­~ burg, W.Va. A motion was made and passed to retain all the branch’s present officers for another term in 1988. Branch 8020 McKees Rocks, PA By William J. Arbanas Branch 8020 President The members of Branch 8020 will bring the spirit of Christmas to many members and friends when it hosts two special Christ­mas parties this year. The first party will be held for the residents at the William Penn Home for the Elderly in Wells­burg, W.Va. The second party will be held for the residents at the Robinson Developmental Center for severely retarded adults. Both parties are annual events sponsored by the branch. Guests at each party will be treated with cookies, ice cream, refreshments and a visit from Santa. The branch is also planning to donate three boxes of food to needy families in three local par­ishes. Plus, the branch has already donated two large turkeys to the Senior Citizens Center in McKees Rocks. The branch is happy to an­nounce that Branch Vice Presi­dent Nick Kotik is now working for fellow member and Pennsyl­vania State Rep. Fred A. Trello. Hats off to our national officers for making it possible for our branch to purchase bowling shirts for 13 residents at the Robinson Developmental Center. The shirts will carry the name of the Associ­ation on the back. Branch 8048 Latrobe, PA At their Nov. 4 meeting, the members of Branch 8048 agreed to make monetary contributions to both the local Community Chest Fund and the cable tele­vision campaign at the William Penn Home for the Elderly. The branch also made a Thanks­giving Day donation to the Carm­elite Nuns in Latrobe and request­ed that the nuns offer a Mass in memory of the branch’s deceased members. A contribution was made to "Julius’ Turkeys”, a Thanksgiv­ing campaign designed to provide food for the needy in the Pitts­burgh area. And, in an annual branch ritual, the branch officers were compen­sated for their work in 1987. Branch 8050 Pittsburgh, PA Members of Branch 8050 attend­ed a recent "Night at the Races” sponsored by Branch 8014. The branch’s November meeting feat­ured special entertainment and refreshments. Branch 8057 Verona, PA By Betty Tuccillo Branch 8057 Reporter Branch 8057 held a very special meeting on Nov. 11 at St. Joseph’s Church Activity Hall, with 22 members present. What made it so special was our two fine guests from the Pittsburgh-East Agency, Manager Dominic La Verde and Lee Ann Shively. The two guests explained all about the new insurance plans offered by the Association. They also raffled off eight turkeys to members in attendance. We all enjoyed their visit. The branch made a generous contribution to the William Penn Home for the Elderly. Congratulations to Branch President Mary Dialoiso who re­cently became a great-grandmoth­er. Also, special wishes for a happy birthday go to members Mary Dasta and Nellie DiLiberto. To our shut-ins, we pray for a speedy recovery. Our Christmas party will be a covered dish affair. We hope to see a nice turn-out of members. Branch 8095 Uniontown, PA The members of Branch 8095 held a memorial Mass for deceas­ed members on Nov. 10, followed by a Communion breakfast. Our annual Christmas party will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13. Entertainment will be provided by our banjoist Bruno Garden. Branch 8114 Clarion, PA Members from Branch 8114 helped make the Nov. 8 IC Har­vest Festival a great success. Mem­bers also recently assisted in the annual clothing drive. Branch 8121 St. Marys, PA Branch 8121 held its regular meeting Nov. 4 at which members finalized plans for the annual Christmas party. Door prizes and table prizes and favors made by Branch Presi­dent Mary Lou Sporner will be given to guests. Members in atten­dance will also participate in a special gift exchange. The branch also decided to make a donation to the cable television campaign at the Wil­liam Penn Home for the Elderly, and agreed to give money towards a picture to be placed in the St. Marys Parocial School cafeteria. Branch 8149 Pittsburgh, PA By Marie Boyle Donahue Branch 8149 Reporter Our card party will be held on Nov. 30. Everyone is welcome. We are giving two baskets of goodies to the needy, which will cost a total of $60. Our Christmas party will be held Monday, Dec. 14. The party will feature a two-dollar grab bag. On Sunday, Nov. 22, we had a memorial Mass said for all deceas­ed members of our Association at St. Anselm’s Church. We would like to thank Pitts­burgh-East Agency Manager Dominic La Verde and Sales Rep­resentative Win Kipp for their presentation at our recent meet­ing. We enjoyed their discussion very much. Branch 8155 Steelton, PA At our Nov. 4 meeting, the mem­bers of Branch 8155 voted to paint the ceiling tile and install base molding in the corridor of St. John the Evangelist School. Our members will also clean and wax the floors in the restrooms and cafeteria. Branch 8155 also recently as­sisted in setting up the church’s Christmas Boutique on Nov. 15. Our branch made a $50 dona­tion to the cable television cam­paign at the William Penn Home. Branch 8164 Steubenville, OH The members of Branch 8164 helped make Thanksgiving a happy day for three needy families in St. Anthony’s parish when it donated three baskets filled with turkeys and canned goods. At its Nov. 8 meeting, the branch voted to donate $50 to the church for the use of its meeting hall and $20 to the Wil­liam Penn Home for the Elderly. The branch also unanimously re-elected its present officers to another term in 1988. The offi­cers are: Peter Buffone, president; Angela D’Aurora, vice president; Fannie Cipolla, secretary; Albert DiFalco, treasurer; and Emanuel Federico and Sebastian Grossi, auditors. The officers will be installed at the December meeting. Branch 8286 Philadelphia, PA Branch 8286 held two special masses at St. Vincent’s Church in November. The first was said for the living members of the branch, the second was held on Thanks­giving Day in memory of the branch’s deceased members. The branch will hold a Christ­mas party in December and will prepare food baskets to be given to the refugees in the parish. Branch 8321 Windber, PA The members of Branch 8321 held a special Mass for their deceased fellow members on Nov. 8 at St. Anthony’s Church. The branch also will participate in the clothing drive in January. Branch 8326 Smithton, PA Branch 8326 held a memorial Mass for deceased members of Continued of Page 7 .......
