Ward Branch 14 Secretary Branch 14 will hold its annual Christmas party at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12 at the West Side Hungarian Reformed Church, 15300 Puritas Road, Cleveland. Please note that the date of the party has been changed to Dec. 12. By now, all children from Branch 14 should have received their invitations, but all members are welcome. There will be a spectacular magic show and Lucky the Clown will be there to entertain the children. The highlight will be when Santa and his helper arrive with gifts for all the William Penn children. We are looking forward to this year’s Christmas party to be the biggest and best Branch 14 has ever had, with nearly 100 children attending. If you have not returned your R.S.V.P. card enclosed with your invitation, call Dawn Ward, Christmas party chairperson, at (216) 238-8500. The spirit of fraternalism will be enhanced by your presence in celebrating the holiday season at Branch 14’s Christmas party. Please plan to attend on Dec. 12. Branch 15 Chicago, IL By Frank Balogh Branch 15 President We at Branch 15 were very pleased to learn that László Katona, one of our newest and youngest members, recently won a $50 U.S. Savings Bond in a drawing sponsored by the Home Office. László was one of two winners selected in a random drawing from all the Association’s new juvenile members who were enrolled between Aug. 1 and Oct. 31 this year. We congratulate László, and we congratulate his parents for raising such a fine child as László, who is in church every Sunday with his parents. László is a faithful altarboy who serves at the 10:00 a.m. Hungarian Mass at St. Stephen’s Roman Catholic Church. Branch 18 Detroit, MI By Barbara A. House Branch 18 Secretary Our Grape Harvest Dance was again a giant success. The music by Emil Jacobs was, as usual, well received. Our dance group again outdid themselves by putting on a great show. Manager and chef Szatmári worked himself to the bone to produce another great meal. None of this would have been possible without the help of some hard-working people. Special thanks go to decorating club members Eddie Beres, Ernie Ecsedi, Andrew Toth, Barbara House, Steve Vargo, George Dudás, Eddie Mroozian, Mike Kessler, Julias Turczak and Frank Lezak. Don’t forget Nov. 27, Christmas decorating time. New faces are also very welcome. Vice President Andy Toth spent some time in Riverside Hospital in October. He had some very serious heart problems. We are pleased to report that, at this writing, he is back with us, working very hard. Congratulations and welcome back, Andy. You were missed. The Santa Ferenc concert on Nov. 11 was a smashing success. The music was beautiful. The ensemble was to honor us with a repeat performance on Nov. 15. We thank them for the opportunity to hear such great music. Ladies Auxiliary — The ladies and friends went to the D.R.C. Racetrack for luncheon on Oct. 21. Although we were very vocal, the horses didn’t listen. We aren’t any richer, but we sure had a good time, especially the first-timers. The ladies Christmas dinner will be held on Dec. 19 at the club. All members are welcome with their guests. Branch 27 Toledo, OH By Mary Ivancso Branch 27 Coordinator Greetings from Branch 27 Toledo, Ohio. Our congratulations to National President Stephen G. Danko and all of the new officers, board members and national auditors. The 31st General Convention held in Toronto, Canada, this year was very enriching — seeing old friends and meeting new ones. On Oct. 17 my husband (National Director Stephen J. Ivancso) and I attended the 70th Fraternal Congress of Ohio held in Wickliffe, Ohio. Driving on the Ohio Turnpike was a sight to behold. The changing color of the leaves — seeing the brilliant reds, a deep green evergreen, and the gold and brown of autumn — was breathtaking and spectacular. St. Stephen’s Church held its annual Hungarian Night on Oct. 17. Branch President Maggie Ivancso was in charge of this event along with members of the parish. Vice President Dottie Feyes, her husband Auditor Jula Feyes, their son Jeff and his wife Joanne, came all the way from Gaithersburg, Maryland for this affair. Former Lucas County Commissioner Francis Szolosi and his wife Mary enjoyed the evening. Jula and Pat Vargo had a wonderful time dancing to the beautiful music of Frank Borisz. The highlight of the evening was the performance of the William Penn Branch 18 dancers. They received a standing ovation. Other branches — when you have a function in the future and want entertainment that is second to none, contact Darlene Szatmári, director of the Branch 18 dancers. Her number is (313) 381-9881.
