November 1987, William Penn Life, Page 11 Excerpts from the minutes of the William Penn Association Board of Directors meeting held August 16-17-18-19,1987 SUNDAY, AUGUST 16,1987 Welcome/Chairman Lesko - Chairman of the Board John T. Lesko Sr. opened the meeting at 9:30 a.m. at Penn Scenic View. Roll Call/Radvany - The Secretary of the Board, Frank J. Radvany, called the roll and the following are present: Stephen G. Danko, National President; Albert J. Stelkovics and Stephen M. Lang Jr., National Vice Presidents; E. E. Vargo, National Secretary; Frances A. Furedy, National Treasurer; and Directors Joseph P. Arvay, Zoltán B. Emri, William J. Haberstroh, Stephen J. Ivancso Sr., Albert G. Kertesz, William C. Kohut, John T. Lesko, Roger G. Nagy, Frank J. Radvany, Elmer W. Toth and Frank J. Wukovits Jr. Advisory Board members John P. Balia, Frank Bero, Elmer Charles, President Emeritus, Stephen Danko and Frank J. Wukovits Sr. By-Law Review - The Board of Directors commenced to review the By-Laws of the William Penn Association and the proposed changes. MONDAY, AUGUST 17,1987 July 1987 Executive Committee Minutes - The Board of Directors acknowledged and filed the minutes of the Executive Committee meetings held on July 31 and August 1, 1987. National President’s Report - National President Stephen G. Danko commenced to review his report to the Board of Directors. Mount St. George Employees/Union - It was report­ed that the United Steel Workers Union attempted to unionize the employees at the Mount St. George facility in Wellsburg, West Virginia. The Association engaged the services of Industrial Relations, Inc., who success­fully defeated the union’s attempt to organize the employees. Treasury Department Improvements - President Danko reported that great strides have been made in the Treasury Department since the election of Frances A. Furedy as National Treasurer. Many changes and im­provements have been implemented to update the operations of this department. 1987 Golf Tournament - President Danko submitted a report on the 1987 Golf Tournament held in Detroit, Michigan. President Danko expressed sincere thanks and appreci­ation to National Secretary Vargo and the Golf Commit­tee at Branch 0018 Detroit for the extraordinary manner in which they performed their duties to make this event successful. The golfers are certainly looking forward to another tournament next year. TUESDAY, AUGUST 18,1987_____________ Home Office Site/Recommendation - It was moved, seconded and the Board recommended that the Associa­tion investigate the possibility of purchasing a parcel of land in the Pittsburgh area and build a new Home Office on this site. Summary of Board Minutes/Approved - It was moved, seconded and the Board authorized the National Officers to prepare the Report of the Board of Directors to the General Convention. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 19,1987__________ Board Authorizes Hearing - It was moved, seconded and the Board of Directors authorized that a hearing be held on Monday, August 24, 1987, at 10:00 a.m. in the Board Room of the William Penn Association relative to Mr. Gay B. Banes. Emri/Vice President - It was moved, seconded and the Board of Directors recommends the name of Zoltán B. Emri for the office of Vice President to the Board of Directors elected at the 31st General Convention. Penn Scenic View Property - It was moved, seconded and the Board of Directors rescinded the motion to sell Penn Scenic View.
