,♦ ,„,<1 ffi'l’J < MSI October 1987, William Penn Life, Page 7 31st General Convention An address to the Convention by Paul Pulitzer I am delighted to be here among you on this important occasion as the executive vice president of the Rákóczi Foundation-International (USA) and as the executive editor-publisher of the Hungarian Heritage Review. In both of these capacities, I congratulate the newly elected members of the Board of Directors of the William Penn Association and hope that their tenure in office will prove to be one of the most productive and fruitful in the more than 100-year-old history of their fraternal organization, and that their achievements will further enhance the traditions established in 1886 by the 13 Hungarian coal miners who founded it. Although working for the constructive benefit of the Hungarian community at-large on different levels of interest, my organization and publication have causes-in-common with the William Penn Association. These causes are the preservation, protection and perpetuation of the Hungarian heritage in America and the enhancement of its public image by meaningful deeds, rather than by meaningless words. For these reasons, we must continue to work together and support each other for the common good of all. It is our considered opinion that the Hungarian community in America as it exists today is fragmented to a considerable extent because of ideo­­political and other differences of opinions and lacks the kind of leadership essential for effectuating unification in support of solving one of the most pressing problems confronting us during these latter days and years of the 20th century.
