Nationality festival held Dayton party a jubilant affair McKEESPORT, PA — The mem­bers of Branch 226 joined the University of Pittsburgh in cele­brating its bi-centennial year when they participated in a Nat­ionality Festival held Oct. 26. The festival was part of a pro­gram marking the 60th anniver­sary of the Nationality Room program at the university. Kertesz National Director DAYTON, OH — Branch 249, Dayton, held its annual branch meeting on Dec. 13, 1986. Re­elected as branch officers were John Motko, president; Steve Horvath, vice president; Anne Marie Schmidt, secretary/treas­­urer; and Frank Hoffer and Michael Mayerchak, auditors. We wish them continued suc­cess in the performance of their duties as they guide our Branch during the coming year. This was also the day of our family Christmas party. Once again it was a very jubilant affair. After the refreshments, meal and pastries came the welcoming address in the Hungarian language By Mary R. Dialoiso Branch 8057 President VERONA, PA - Branch 8057 celebrated its 80th Anniversary and the Association’s 100th An­niversary Nov. 23, 1986, at the Oakmont (Pa.) Yacht Club. Executive Vice President John F. Kenawell was the main speaker. All present enjoyed a very nice dinner and received door prizes and favors. Special red rose corsages repre­senting respect for life were made for the event by Mary Dialoiso. By Rose Darab Branch 590 Member CAPE CORAL, FL — The mem­bers of Branch 590 met Nov. 16, 1986, to elect officers for the year 1987. Elected were the Rev. Arpad George, president; Michael Tom­­csak, vice president; Mary Veres, secretary; Betty Bartus, treasurer; Irene Redden, entertainment; Irene Sabo, news reporter; and Elizabeth Noel, Helen Corao and By Frank Balogh Branch 15 President CHICAGO — Branch 15 held its annual Christmas party on Dec. 14, 1986. All those attending enjoyed the home-made kolbász made by Branch President Frank Balogh and Arpad Laczina. The delicious pastries were prepared by Math­ilda Balogh and Eva Laczina. by President Motko. National Director Albert G. Kertesz fol­lowed with the welcome in the English language. Dates were announced for our upcoming major fraternal funct­ions, the National Golf Tourna­ment and the trip to Hungary during the summer. Next came the introduction of our Association’s Fraternal Direc­tor Elizabeth Szabó. We feel greatly honored that she could be with us during our festive occas­ion. The door prizes supplied by the Home Office were very much appreciated. Winner of the Herend plate was Don Fedor. We were again fortunate to enjoy the talented performance of Kurt McGlocklin and his little puppet friends. His shows are on Mrs. Dialoiso presented a check to Mr. Kenawell as a don­ation from local branches and Paul McCaffrey to the Knights of St. George Home. The donation was made in memory of branch member John Liberto, who passed away in November. The branch held its annual Christmas party Dec. 10 at Pir­­ollo’s Cafe in Verona. Following lunch, Santa Claus passed out gifts to the children present. The branch is currently plan­ning a retreat to the Knights of St. George Home in Wellsburg, Irene Redden, auditors. On Dec. 20, the branch held its annual Christmas party. The party was held at the Amber Lantern Supper Club. Co-chair­men for the event were Irene Redden and Tony Noel. Meeting date for 1987 are Feb. 1, May 3, Sept. 20 and Nov. 1. After this came our song fest, this year in both Hungarian and English, singing the carols we grew up with to the accompani­ment of Albert G. Kertesz Jr. on the organ. The carol "Jingle Bells” herald­ed the arrival of Santa to distri­bute gifts and goodies to all the good little boys and girls present. We thank the Home Office for the generous contribution, and also the many people locally who assisted in making this annual affair successful. It is our hope that this New Year will bring you an abundance of good health, wealth and happiness. W.Va. some time in April. More information on the retreat will be announced soon.
