1986-01-01 / 1. szám
Staff members of Mt. St. George enjoyed their annual Christmas party and are shown here with John Kenawell, executive vice-president of the William Penn Association and his wife, Linda, seated in the front row. Two of the scenes involving the presentation of a beautiful Christmas concert by the Tri-State Symphonette include members of the musical organization and some of the residents of Mt. St. George. Various scenes are reflected in these pictures taken during the annual Christmas party sponsored by the Brozier Brothers of Avella, Pa., at the Mt. St. George home in Wellsburg. Residents were responsive to the holiday atmosphere and, with the Sisters of the Home, joined in the festivities in singing carols. Several events were held in December to mark the annual holiday season at Mt. St. George in Wellsburg and one of these included a party by Branch 8020 of McKees Rocks, Pa. Another included a performance by the Tri-State Symphonette, a group of Ohio Valley area musicians who stage free concerts throughout the area for various civic and charitable organizations. A party was held December 20 for the staff at the home. And, on Dec. 22, the Brozier Brothers, of Avella, once again staged a festival Christmas party for the residents, sisters and staff. Regis and Larry Brozier have sponsored this annual event for many years. The Brozier group was welcomed by Home Administrator Nick Kotik who introduced Regis Brozier and his group. The choral group is known as the Avella Aires and the director is Bob Zeh. Their accompanist is Marge Rékai. Members include Mr. Brozier, Jean Cheesebrough, Lucy Coulter, Janice Forney, Rose Marie Parker, Pat Krivanek and Grace Shedkiac. The group performed many Christmas favorites, then invited the residents to a singalong. The Home Sisters also performed, singing a German Christmas carol. Door prizes were presented and the residents were treated to homemade cookies and punch. The enthusiasm and goodwill of the Brozier Brothers is an annual brightener during the Christmas season at Mt. St. George. Branch No. 8121 and 8126 St. Mary’s, Pa. By Mary Lou Sporner, President, Branch 8126 At the regular November meetings, both branches held nomination of officers.
