The gala Centennial Dinner- Dance, to be held May 24 in Pittsburgh, will highlight a series of seven concerts and banquets commemorating the 100th birthday of the William Penn Association. Being held in conjunction with the 43rd Annual Bowling Tournament and Scholarship Days, the Centennial Dinner- Dance will be a grand evening of international speakers, enter­tainers and exhibitions. Featured entertainers for the event will be Hungary’s own Apollonia Kovács and Dezső Sándor Hodos, accompanied by the Ferenc Santa Gypsy Orchestra. Banes — President An attorney for the past 40 years, Mr. Banes actually began his professional career in science. He graduated from Ohio Northern University in 1938 with a B.S. degree in Chemistry and earned his teacher’s certifications in Ohio and Pennsylvania. After working six years as a chemist for Vanadium Corpora­tion, Mr. Banes earned his Juris Doctorate Degree from Du­­quesne University Law School in Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1944. His first position in the legal profes­sion was as a Claim Settlement Agent for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. In 1947 he became a Pennsylvania Depart­ment of Justice Representative in the Department of Public Assistance. Since leaving formal State service in 1952, he has re­mained active in State legal affairs, serving as a delegate to the Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention from 1967-1968 at which he was co-chairman of the Structure of Local Govern-Continued on page 7 column 1 1986 Annual Bowling Tournament and Scholarship Days The William Penn Associa­tion’s 43rd Bowling Tourna­ment and Scholarship Days will be held in Pittsburgh, Pa. We will start our fabulous weekend on Friday, May 23, through Sunday, May 25, 1986. It will be held at the beautiful Westin William Penn Hotel in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh. A gala dinner-dance will be held on Saturday evening, May 24, commencing with a cash bar at 6:00 P.M. and a prime rib dinner at $18.00 per person with dancing. We have a fine evening planned for you. Our entertainment will be ex­traordinary. The bowling tournament will begin on Saturday, May 24, at 9:00 A.M. at McKnight Lanes located at 7505 McKnight Road, a short 15 minute bus ride from the hotel. There are 48 lanes and we are guaran­teed score keepers. Pittsburgh will have its an­nual Folk Festival on the same weekend you will be in town. It will be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in downtown Pittsburgh. You can walk from the hotel to the Festival. It will feature ethnic food, dancing and displays-of many European countries. The Hungarians have taken part in the Festival for many years. The schedule is Friday and Saturday, May 23 and 24, from 4:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. and on Sunday, May 25, from 12:00 noon to 10:00 P.M. Stop by and wish your fellow coun­trymen well, no matter what your nationality may be. There will be 21 to 30 countries represented. Pittsburgh has many attrac­tions which you may want to visit.
