BOTKIN NATIONAL DIRECTOR William Penn is proud to announce the three recipients of insurance recognition awards for achievement in the fraternal field. They are Ron Abels, National Sales Director for the William Penn Association; Daniel R. Wahl, Greater Pitts­burgh Agency Manager, and JasepFPBarreiro, Columbus, Ohio Agency Manager. Ron Abels has earned the title of Fraternal Insurance Coun­sellor Fellow, an advanced designation that can only be obtained by passing additional courses in estate protection, financial planning, and business insurance. The new classifica­tion was created by the Frater­nal Field Managers Association and the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counsel­lors. Mr. Abels received his cer­tificate during the NAFIC meeting in Long Beach, Califor­nia on May 3. Dan Wahl was recognized by the National Association of Fraternal Insurance Counsellors as a first year member in the Two Million Dollar Production Club for insurance sales. He was one of 368 fraternal agents in the nation to receive this award. Joe Barreiro became a first year member of the NAFIC’s One and One-Half Million Club. Mr. Barreiro was one of 228 members achieving this level of production from across the country. Heartiest congratulations are extended to all three gentlemen from the William Penn on their outstanding achievements. Shown at left is Andrew Szladics, president of Branch 525 and, at right, Andrew Gotz, branch coordinator. Mt. St. George Holds Room Dedication Two rooms were dedicated at Mt. St. George in Wellsburg, W. Va., as memorials during the month of August. Mrs. Theresa Bukowski of McKees Rocks, Pa., purchased a Memorial Room in memory of her late husband, Edward Bukowski. Mr. Bukowski was a loyal member of Branch 8020. The members of Branch 8020, McKees Rocks, also pur­chased a Memorial Room in memory of the branch’s living and deceased members. Branch 8020 is one of our most fraternal active branches. Both Memorial Rooms were blessed at a special service celebrated by Father Frederick Becker, resident chaplain. Re­marks were made by Executive Vice President John F. Kena­­well; Branch 8020 President William Arbanas and Branch Vice President E. J. McCosby. Refreshments were served following the service. All dona­tions are tax-deductible. LABOR DAY PICNIC—The annual Labor Day Picnic was held at Mt. St. George in Wellsburg, an event an­nually a high point for the residents. Shown here are two of the residents, Mary Ann Kincaid and Kathy Durbin. They’re being given an assist by Nurses Alberta Howell and Helen Har­rison. The picnic began at noon on the front porch of the Mansion and a delightful array of goodies was fea­tured on the dining table. Nick Kotik and Bob Wilt manned the grills with an‘assist from Sandy Wilt, Betty Anderson and Lil Eppinger. Fr. Fred and the Sisters were on hand to also enjoy the outing. LIONS AT MT. ST. GEORGE — Members of the Wellsburg, W. Va. Lions Club held their annual shrimp fry and corn boil in lodge facilities at Mt. St. George. Lions are deeply dedicated to assisting the blind and other people with sight problems. The club has worked closely with several of the residents at Mt. St. George. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Parker, residents of the home and sight handi­capped, were guests at the event. Attending from the Home Office was Executive Vice-President John F. Kenawell and his wife Linda. Joseph Barreiro Named Agency Manager Joseph Barreiro, FIC and general agent in the Greater Pittsburgh Agency, has been named agency manager and will be responsible for the Co­lumbus, Dayton and Cincinnati areas of Ohio. He will maintain an office in the Columbus area. In making the announce­ment, Ron Abels, the national sales director, indicated that “Joe’s efforts in the insurance business for the past 20 years easily qualified him for this new and demanding assignment.” During his affiliation with William Penn, Mr. Barreiro has qualified for numerous awards, including four to the National Sales Conference. He is a FIC (Fraternal Insur­ance Council) and a graduate of the Life Underwriting Training Council. Mr. Barreiro and his wife, Alice, will make their home in the Columbus area. The office will be situated at 975 Parsons Avenue in Columbus and the telephone number there is 614-443-7797. LIFE MEMBER—Pvt. David J. Bene, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Bene, of Homestead, Pa., is a lifelong member of Branch 34 in Pittsburgh. Pvt. Bene recently completed his basic training at Fort Gordon, Georgia. 13
