Ivancso, prominent in William Penn bowling for many years, has been admitted to the Toledo, Ohio Bowling Hall of Fame, a unique and distinct honor given only to bowlers of significance in that city. Steve is a native of Hungary (1920) and came to Toledo in 1942. He bowled in the Toledo area for 36 years and was one of the original 40 bowlers when the Times Classic was formed there in 1954. His team captain was Dick Sendi, also a TBA Hall of Famer. In 1956, Steve and Julius Vargo won the actual doubles in the William Penn National Tournament held in Buffalo. He won the same title again in 1959. Stephen J. Ivancso He also achieved the highest score possible in bowling when he rolled a perfect 300 game in 1965. His high average was 204 and his high series was 772. He has rolled more than 35 series scores of 700 or better. Steve was one of three bowlers admitted to the Toledo Hall of Fame in ceremonies held last April. The William Penn Association joins in applauding this unique achievement by an Association member. PRESENTATION - National Treasurer John L. Lovász presents Rev. James Chepponis with a $250 gift from the William Penn Association, marking his recent ordination into the priesthood in Pittsburgh. Father Chepponis is a member of Branch 8005. A letter of congratulations, in behalf of the William Penn Association, was sent to Fr. Chepponis by John F. Their cooperation in getting the necessary records was most helpful to our committee in doing the job we are required to do. Our audit was conducted in accordance with general accepted audit standards and procedures. Fraternally, Emma L. Beganyi, Chairperson Louis A. Fodor, Secretary BRANCH 14 Cleveland, Ohio Member Given Promotion Branch 14 in Cleveland, Ohio, was particularly pleased to learn of the recent promotion of Ernest Hudak to the post of National Sales Manager of the Weldon Tool Company based in Cleveland, Ohio. He has been with the company since 1943. In 1979 he was named one of America’s top ten industrial salesmen. In his new position he will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of all domestic sales. He will also retain his European and Asian responsibilities as Weldon’s Export Sales Manager. Since joining the firm he has held a number of positions, including that of production control manager, purchasing agent, and tool engineer. He is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Ernie is well known throughout the Hungarian community because of his weekly Hungarian Radio Hour broadcast each Sunday at noon over station WELW in Willoughby. The Magyar Club of Cleveland plans to honor him for his 35 years of on-the-air. Ernie is a good friend to the William Penn Association and each Sunday provides announcements that help open the door for sales representatives. Two Designated as Fraternal Insurance Counsellors Jodene Pascarella of the Detroit Office and Richard Toth of the Home office recently received designation as Fraternal Insurance Counsellors according to Ron Abels, national sales director. “Jodene and Rick have completed and passed all three parts of the FIC requirements,” Abels said, “and we congratulate them on this achievement.” Jodene is Agency Manager in Detroit and Richard is an assistant underwriter at the Home Office. Auditing Committee Report The Auditing Committee met at the Home Office on August 12, 13 and 14, 1985. Present were all members of the Committee: Emma L. Benganyi — Chairperson, Louis A. Fodor — Secretary, Charles S. Fabian, Michael J. Hrabar, Michael R. Kara, Violet B. Lenart. Emma Beganyi, Chairperson, greeted the National Officers, Board of Directors and the Advisory Board Members and wished them good health and a fruitful meeting. Our Committee examined records to June 20, 1985 and included the following: income from premiums, stocks, bonds and mortgages. Deposits from all transactions were checked against the ledgers. All new purchases were physically checked in the bank vault and matured or called stocks and bonds were verified and deposit slips were checked for entrance into ledgers.
