This was truly an outstanding accomplishment. Recently, a recognition dinner was held to honor the outstanding producers for 1984 in the Greater Pittsburgh Agen­cy. I had the honor of present­ing the following awards: Andrew S. Uzonyi — Production Leader Sales Leader Premium Leader Samuel Sulkosky — New Membership Leader Don Debreczeni — Rookie-of-the-Year Dominic LaVerde — Agent-of-the-Month (January-85) The dinner was held at The Meadows Racetrack where a few of these men also demon­strated their handicapping skills by calling a few winners throughout the evening. The fourth race was dedicated to the outstanding representatives and they all shared in the winners circle festivities. All in all, it was just simply a great evening. Three Sales Representatives Recognized With Awards Three sales representatives of the Greater Pittsburgh Agen­cy of the William Penn Associa­tion were recognized with awards during a dinner meeting at the Meadows Race Track in Washington, Pa. Dan Wahl, the agency manager, and his wife, Mary Jean, were the hosts. Wahl presented awards to Andy Uzony, Sam Sulkosky and Don Debreczeni. At the same function three members of the national sales staff were similiarly honored when Ron Abels, the national sales director, presented each of them with $100 Ben Franklin awards for their efforts of a minimum of 100 sales each dur­ing 1984. They were Andrew Uzonyi, the leading agent nationally, with 206 sales; Sam Sulkosky with 151 sales and Joseph Bar­­reiro with 137 sales. Also attending the presentation ceremonies were their wives, Anita Uzonyi, Karen Sulkosky and Alice Barreiro. With his 206 sales, Andrew Uzonyi received the award for the Outstanding Sales Representative for 1984. By Harold Robinson Branch 8351 BLAIR COUNTY, PA — The Blair County district of the William Penn Association recently held a dinner at Our Lady of Lourdes Church Hall. Our host was Joseph Palumbo, the branch president. The dinner was prepared and served by our very talented ladies auxiliary. Served cafeteria style, the dinner in­cluded sauerkraut and wieners, baked beans, cake and beverages. The chapter was especially honored to have as a guest, John Kenawell, executive vice­­president of the Home Office. Special Tribute Paid to Fr. Árpád György By Irene E. Sabo Branch 590 CAPE CORAL, FL — A special tribute was paid by Branch 590 to its president, Fr. Árpád György during a recent testimonial by the Hungarian American Cultural Association, Inc., Petőfi Club of Sarasota. Family, daughter and son and friends from throughout the country and Hungary were in atten­dance to help make his 50th year ministerial celebration a memorable occasion. All of us at Branch 590 extend special congratulations to a truly great individual and a decent human being. In other news, the Branch ap­proved a contribution in honor of our president to the Hungarian Community of Friends in Sarasota. A combination picnic/meeting was held in April at the home of regional manager Anthony G. Noel. It was a perfectly balmy day and, after the meeting, members took advantage of Mr. Noel’s swimming pool until the late hours of the afternoon. Rev. György presided for the business session at which time the resignation of Rose Darab as secretary, was announced. The new recording secretary is Mary Veres and we extend con­gratulations to her on her new office. The next general meeting will be held Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. at An­thony Noel’s home. The monthly meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month, at the Schwartz Center. The purpose of the club is to encourage senior citizens of the parish to enjoy bus trips, boat cruises, dinner outings, picnics and get­ting together to enjoy them­selves in their senior years. Rev. Father Frank Carfagna, Pastor of St. Joseph Church, is the Spiritual Advisor of the Parishioner’s Club and Joseph Wacunas is the Public Rela­tions person. Officers of the club are: Virgil Artino, Presi­dent; Alice Joilet, Secretary and Betty Spect, Treasurer. Pro­gram Committee: Doletta Gallipa, Margaret Rodi, Martha Yukich, Sunshine Chairman: Esther Quattrocchi. We, of Branch 189, William Penn members, are very proud of our Pastor Father Frank Car­fagna, for being selected as a delegate to the National Federation of Priests Councils of New Jersey. The federation meets annual­ly to discuss and formulate policies on a range of social issues and priestly concerns, in­cluding retirement, team ministry, continuing education, vocations, human rights, preaching priestly lifestyles and racism. Father Carfagna is one of three pastors who will repre­sent the priests council of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown. He has served as secretary of the diocesan priests senate for several terms, and last year was elected secretary of the newly­formed priests council, accord­ing to the requirements of the revised code of canon law. Congratulations, Father Carfagna!!!! Congratulations also to Mount Union graduate, Michael Cibulas, for receiving the Robert I. Brainard Jr. Com­munications Prize. Michael is the son of Branch Mgr. Zoltán and Mrs. Cibulas. The William Penn Athletic Club steak dinner was well at­tended as was the Social dinner of Branch 189. Manager Debbie and her girls outdid themselves as did Debbie’s husband, Jim, who prepared the steaks, a job well done!! ______ The second annual William Penn national golf tournament is drawing near — make sure all golfers have sent in your reser­vations. Tribute was also paid to the four oldest members of the branch, Frank Kolbenschlag, Frank Smith, Bill Adams and Vince Smith. Plans are underway for a bus trip to the Fatima Shrine in Washington, New Jersey in mid-July. The branch’s annual picnic will be held August 14 at Highland Park in Altoona, Pa.
