SECOND NATIONAL WILLIAM PENN GOLF TOURNAMENT TO TAKE PLACE IN CANTON, OHIO Zoltán Emri as Co- Administrators. 24. The Board of Directors authorized the National Of­ficers to review the matter of inactive branches and where feasible, inactive branches be merged with a more active branch. 25. The Board of Directors decided to meet for their Board meeting in 1985 on the following dates: April 15, 16 and 17, 1985. August 12, 13 and 14, 1985. December 9,10 and 11,1985. The Executive Committee Meetings will be held on: March 14 and 15, 1985 (Thursday and Friday) June 27 and 28, 1985 (Thursday and Friday) November 7 and 8, 1985 (Thursday and Friday) 26. The Board of Directors acknowledged the Report of the National Treasurer with sincere thanks. 27. The Board of Directors acknowledged the Report of Vice President and General Counsel Gay B. Banes with sincere thanks and ap­preciation. 28. The Board acknowl­edged the mandate of the Executive Committee that contains old files, records and newsprints be micro­filmed. 29. Director Barbara Botkin submitted a verbal report on the 1985 Golf Tour­nament. It was recommended that if satisfactory arrange­ments can be made, the 1985 Golf Tournament would be held in Alliance, Ohio. 30. Chairman Danko recessed the meeting at 4:30 P.M. until 9:00 A.M. Wednes­day, December 12, 1984. Respectfully submitted, Frank J. Radvany Secretary of the Board 31. Chairman Danko reconvened the meeting at 9:00 A.M. and same are present. 32. Secretary of the Board Frank J. Radvany read the Minutes of Tuesday’s meeting. It was moved, sec­onded and accepted as cor­rected. 33. Executive Vice Presi­dent John F. Kenawell sub­mitted his report to the Board of Directors. The Board acknowledged his report with sincere thanks and ap­preciation. 34. National President John Sabo submitted re­quests from the following: American Hungarian Review University of Notre Dame Press Continuing Education at Carlow College Pennsylvania Chamber of Commerce Duquesne University Tamburitzans Institute of Folk Art American Cancer Society Branch 296, Springdale, Pa. American Hungarian Foundation John S. Gonas The Board of Directors authorized the National Presi­dent to review these requests and take necessary action at his discretion. 35. Director Steve Ivancso expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to the National Officers and Directors on behalf of himself, his wife Mary and members of their families during their family bereavement. 36. The Board authorized Mr. Ron Abels and National Secretary Gus G. Nagy to travel to New York City and visit the William Penn office, which was operated by Mr. Andrew Tatar. 37. It was moved, sec­onded and the Board of Directors authorized the Na­tional President to provide financial assistance for operating expenses to William Penn Social Clubs upon their request, at the President’s discretion, in order to continue their opera­tion and existence. 38. The Board of Directors and National Officers ex­pressed sincere thanks to Director William Kohut for the beautiful book entitled “The Spirit of Hungary” which he presented to each Director and Officer as a Christmas gift. 39. Each Director, National Officer and Advisory Board Member was requested to make closing remarks. Each expressed best wishes for a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy Prosperous New Year. 40. Former National Presi­dent Julius Macker also sends his best wishes to the Board of Directors, National Officers, Auditing Committee and Advisory Board Members, during this holiday season. 41. National President Sabo thanked the newly elected Directors and Chair­man of the Board for the fine contribution they made to the Association during this year and hopes they will continue to serve the Association for many years to come. He commended the Advisory Board Members for all o.f their assistance. Mr. Sabo wished each of the members present a pleasant holiday season and hopes the unity of 1984 will continue to prevail in 1985. 42. Chairman of the Board Stephen G. Danko stated the accomplishments made this year has been for the benefit of the Association. He has been blessed tremendously this year and he extended best wishes for a pleasant holiday to each and everyone. 43. The Chairman adjourn­ed the meeting at 11:45 A.M. Radvany Secretary of the Board FIELD APPOINTMENTS By Ron Abels, National Sales Director Appointments affecting Branch 48 in the Manhattan, New York area and Branches 15 and 24 in the Chicago area have been announced. Richard DeFelice has been named general agent for the Manhattan area. Angela Kor­­niczky has been appointed Branch 48 coordinator. At the same time the office at 519 East 83rd Street in Man­hattan has been closed and Andy Tatar is no longer af­filiated with the Association. DeFelice can be reached by calling (914) 592-7527. John Galambos is the new sales representative in the Greater Chicago area and joins the William Penn Association with the Andy Eperjesi Agency in South Bend. Galambos was born in Canada and moved to the Chicago area in 1957 when he was just one year of age. He has lived there since. He attended Gordon Tech High School and was graduated from DePaul University in Chicago in 1979 with a degree in marketing. He and his wife, Heidi, were married in September 1983. Galambos will be contact­ing all members in the area to review their benefits and certificates and we hope the members will greet him with the warmth characteristic of all members of the fraternity. The appointments were an­nounced by Ron Abels, the William Penn Association’s National Sales Director. The second William Penn National Golf Tournament will be held on Saturday, July 13, in Canton, Ohio. The tournament is open to all members, men, women and friends of members. The event will be played at Skyland Pines Golf Club with the awards banquet and hotel accommodations at the Sheraton Beiden Inn. Tournament play is tenta­tively set for an 11:00 A.M., with tee-off assigned starting times on both #1 and #10 tees. Cocktails and dinner will be at 6:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. respectively at the Sheraton. The tournament will be hosted by the Alliance Branch 189. Some members of the Alliance committee in­clude Mike Duruttya, Zoltán Cibulas, Dorothy and Karl Trumpeter and John and Ann Baranyi. Co-Administrators of the tournament are National Director Barbara Botkin and her husband, PGA Golf Pro­fessional, Les Botkin. Friday night, July 12, the Alliance Branch Committee will be hosts as plans are in the making for perhaps an in­formal dinner served to you at the William Penn Club in Alliance. A hospitality room will also be open to tourna­ment participants at the Sheraton on Friday night. As last year, Les Botkin will film all golfers during the tournament for viewing during the evening’s cocktail hour. Individual scoring will be via the Calloway system along with prizes for closest to the pin, longest drive, shortest drive, and longest putt. A fantastic array of prizes will be awarded to a large portion of the field. Also door prizes will be awarded to many dinner attendants. The tournament entry fee will be $25.00 which includes 18 holes of golf, motorized cart, snacks and beverages on the course and favors on #1 tee. Those players desir­ing a locker at the club may obtain one the day of the tournament for $1.00. Shower facilities will also be available. Cost of the dinner will be $16.00 including tax and gratuity. Golfers are not required to attend the awards banquet but are strongly en­couraged to do so as it is much more exciting to pass out a prize to a winner who is there to receive an award. Non-golfers are also wel­comed and encouraged to attend the dinner as the evening will be a splendid fraternal event as last year with special festivities and door prizes. Hotel accommodations are available at a flat discount rate of $47.00 for single or double occupancy at the Sheraton. The Sheraton has both an iiTdoor and outdoor swimming pool, a whirlpool and sauna, a universal fitness room and electronic game room. _ Canton is the home of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and only four miles from the hotel for those persons want­ing to visit this famous museum. There are many other interesting sites in the area. The Beiden Village Mall is across the street from the Sheraton and a shuttle bus is available free of charge from the hotel to the Mall and also to the Canton Airport. The National Officers and Board of Directors hope you and your friends will par­ticipate in the second William Penn Association Golf Tourn­ament this summer. Applica­tions for this event will be mailed to all branches in the spring and the next edition of the William Penn Life will feature another article plus a tear out application form. Barbara Banes Botkin, National Director By Barbara Emri Branch 22 George Bucs was elected president of Branch 22 in Roebling, New Jersey during the final business meeting of 1984. He and other officers were installed by Zoltán Emri, a national director. Each of the officers pledged continued dedication and support to the William Penn Association. Others who will serve with Bucs in the current year are Dale Cole as vice-president; Barbara Emri as recording secretary; Zoltán Emri as secretary and treasurer and Dennis Kish and Jennifer Emri as auditors. Following the business meeting the Branch held its annual Christmas party for juvenile members. Each of them was presented with a gift by Santa Claus and was treated to movies and refreshments.
