Our members received their Christmas gifts, then we all joined in singing Christmas carols in English and Hungarian an well. Led by our own songbirds Anne Lany and Louise Vespremi. On behalf of our Ladies Auxiliary members we would like to extend our best wishes for a Happy and healthy New Year 1985 to everyone. The caps are available in black, blue and green and cost just $5 each. Because of a lack of interest we are no longer selling jackets. Branch 22 is preparing for the annual bowling tournament to be held in New Brunswick in May and we encourage members everywhere to visit New Jersey for that event. Arpad George was reelected president of Coral Gables Branch 590 during the annual business meeting held in November. President George presided for the meeting and extended a welcome to members and guests. Reports were given by Rose Darab, secretary, and Betty Bartus, treasurer. Other officers re-elected unanimously with Rev. George were Chikos Gabor, vice-president; Rose Darab, secretary; Betty Bartus, treasurer; Helen Corrao and Elizabeth Noel, auditors; and Irene Sabo, reporter. Meetings this year will be held April 21 at 3 p.m., Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. and Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. All meetings are held at the home of Branch Manager Anthony G. Noel at 1323 S. E. 35th St., Cape Coral. CORAL GABLES — It’s obvious from the handsome tans each of them wears, that this group of beautiful people are officers and members of the Coral Gables Branch 590 in Florida. The picture was taken during the annual Christmas party. By Ernest Mozer Branch 51 Arthur Barillo was reelected president of Branch 51 during the normal meeting held in Passaic, New Jersey. Others who will again assume office through reelection are Joseph Baumgartner, vice-president; Frank Zimmerman, treasurer; Ernest Mozer, secretary; and Andrew Nemeth and Sándor Lakatos, auditors. The annual Christmas party was held at the American- Hungarian Citizens Club in Garfield and it was the largest attendance of children, parents and guests in the history of the branch. President Barillo expressed his personal thanks for the support given the branch during the past year. He noted that the spirit and enthusiasm of the membership enhances the overall fraternalism that results from such cooperation. During the party guests were entertained with a movie portraying Mr. Magoo in “A Christmas Carol.” Children and parents joined in singing Christmas carols and during the final song, Jingle Bells, Santa (Bob Segal) could be heard making his way into the midst of the children. Each child visited with Santa and was then presented with a gift. Refreshments were later served by the wives of branch officers.
