BRANCH 296, SPRINGDALE, PA — Kimberly Ann Mazur, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick W. Mazur, of Upper Burrell, Pa. and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Balia, was a recipient of a William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship for 1985. Her grandfather, shown here, made the presentation. Kimberly graduated from Burrell Senior High School with high honors and is now attending the University of Pittsburgh where she is majoring in elementary education. BRANCH 18 Lincoln Park, Michigan Planning is well underway for the centennial celebration scheduled for April 27, 1986 and members are urged to look for further announcements of this important event. It will mark the 100th anniversary of the William Penn Association and the 80th anniversary of the branch. In conjunction with the anniversary an album will be printed and members and various businesses will be contacted for ads. If anyone is interested in placing ads, telephone 283-6360 or the Social Club at 381-9881. The annual election of officers is planned for Monday, Dec. 2, at the Social Club at 7:30 p.m. Members are encouraged to attend. Past National President Julius Macker is once again a great-grandfather. His granddaughter, Nancy, recently gave birth to a daughter and she has been named Aubrey Anna. Aubrey is already a new beneficial member. Congratulations to Tom and Nancy Peeke on their new arrival. President Danko and his wife, Julia, have traveled south to Florida to enjoy the sunshine of the winter months. Also in Florida is Julius Macker. The Branch officers extend best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone. 12 FIRST ANNUAL BOAT CRUISE A SUCCESS By JOHN A. TUSAI, National Fraternal Director The first Annual Dinner Dance Cruise was held Saturday, November 2, aboard the Gateway Liberty-Belle docked at Station Square in Pittsburgh. The three-hour boat cruise included a buffet dinner and then music and dancing for ail to enjoy. Over 140 passengers boarded the riverboat including National Officers, Directors, Auditing Committee, Advisory Board, Home Office Personnel, Mt. St. George Personnel and members of branches of the surrounding Pittsburgh area. If you’ve never seen Pittsburgh at night from one of her charming glass enclosed ‘floating ballroom’ riverboats, you just haven’t seen Pittsburgh. L. to R. Albert J. BOTKIN, National DirectorBy William Penn Branch 226 announces its annual family Christmas party to be held on Sunday, December 15,1985 at 1:30 p.m. in St. Stephen’s Hall on Beacon Street, McKeesport, PA. This year, as a fraternal gesture of good will, the branch is incorporating into its party a canned goods drive to help the needy in the surrounding community through the Salvation Army. In keeping with the spirit of Christmas giving, the branch officers request that each family member attending the party bring at least one can of food to the party for the food drive. If a family can give more than the minimum, their generosity will be appreciated. No one is required to give anything. The Christmas party will feature entertainment and treats for the children, carol singing, and a buffet lunch for everyone. Committee members include Louis Siebert, Ed Rietski, Barbara Botkin, Violet Lenart, John Sabo, Ethel Sabo, Betty Hoffman, and Gay Banes.
