Blair County District Holds Father’s Day Dinner On Sunday, June 17, the Blair County District held a Father’s Day Dinner at the Meritta’s Laurel Banquet Room at the foot of Ten Above Duncans ville. Rev. Father Richard J. Krumenaker gave the Invocation. Over one hundred people attended, including Rev. Mon­signor Phillip P. Saylor, Al Weidmann and his son, Rev. Father Joseph Weid­mann, Rev. Father J. Joseph Strittmat­­ter and Rev. Father Mark B. Bagly. Spiritual Advisor Rev. Monsignor Fabor J. Malloy is recuperating from a heart attack. The highlight of the affair was the swearing in of the Blair County Of­ficers by the former Blair District BLAIR COUNTY DISTRICT OFFICERS —L. to R.: Vice Chairman, Harold E. Robinson; Vice Chair­man, Joseph E. Masic; Secretary-Treasurer, George A. Dorman; Trustee, Edwin T. Smith; Joe Palumbo; Trustee, Daniel B. Bauer; Chairman. Charles M. Matko; Honorary Vice President, Leroy Douglas; Executive Vice President of the William Penn Association, John F. Kenawell. these two retiring, Vice President Peter Kuhn was included. Bill Arbanas, President of Branch 8020 presented Matt Kuehn and AI Telipsky with Certificates of Recognition. State Representative Fred A. Trello gave Mr. Kuhn a cita­tion he had passed in Harrisburg. Congressman Doug Walgren and Governor Richard Thornburg sent letters to President Arbanas, who gave them to Mr. Kuhn. Kenawell, now Ex­ecutive Vice President at the Home Of­fice. Remarks were made by Honorary Supreme Vice President Leroy E. Douglas, and Charles Matko, Presi­dent of the Blair County District, who welcomed the guests. An interesting talk was given by Mr. Kenawell on our Society and the festivities of Mt. St. George. The Officers installed were as follows: Chariman, Charles M. Matko; Vice Chairman, Harold E. Robison; Vice Chairman, Joseph E. Masic; Secretary Treasurer, George A. Dorman; Mar­shall, Edward Dzielske; Trustee, Ed­win T. Smith; Trustee, Paul Masic; Trustee, Daniel B. Bauer and Spiritual Advisor, Msgr. Faber J. Malloy. Mr. Matko thanked the Committee and all who helped to make this affair a success. Branch 8189 Tyrone, Pennsylvania Branch 8189 in Tyrone, PA held an Altar Boy recognition on Sunday, May 20. They honored the six boys who were high school graduates by giving them an Altar Boy Plaque and a $5.00 bill. Many thanks to these fine boys who offered their time for serving as Altar Boys when needed. Southwest Penn District Southwest Penn District, Catholic Knights of St. George, William Penn Association, held their Annual Picnic at Cedar Creek Park, Route 51, Belle Vernon, Pa. on Saturday, June 16th. Members attended from Latrobe, Greensburg, Smithton, Uniontown and Scottdale. A catered Buffet Dinner was served. Bingo was enjoyed by all. Door Prizes were awarded to many lucky members. Father Edward Kretz, newly as­signed pastor of St. Timothy’s Church, Smithton was a guest in attendance. Gertrude Sofran, member of Branch 326, Smithton was presented a check in the amount of $100.00 at the picnic by Jean Vidnovic, Chairman of Southwest Penn. Ms. Sofran was the winner of the District lottery drawing that took place on June 14th. O O O Whatever you do, do it well and then some. That then some is what counts. 31
