Snacks For Sleep The right bedtime snacks can he good for kids (and adults), actually helping them to get a good night’s sleep, says Self magazine. And the right snacks are carbohydrates, which raise the level of serotonin, the body’s natural sleep inducer. So, if you have trouble falling asleep or staying asleep, try a carbohydrate-rich, nighttime snack at least an hour before bedtime to let the carbohydrates start working. Good choices: graham crackers, granola bars or fruit juice. 24 Annual Carnival . . . Eric was entered in the Grades 6-8 division in a field of 1 5 entrants. The Tournament, which was held on Saturday, February 1 1, 1984, marked Eric's third year in the competition. Eric began playing chess with his Dad at the age of eight. He enjoys competition with his friends as well as his Dad, but says he "doesn't really play much until it's time to start cramming for the tournament." Eric is in the seventh grade at South Park Middle School, where he is an honor roll student. His other hobbies include reading, playing soccer, and baseball card collecting. He thinks he might like to be a pilot when he is older. Eric is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Rotz of Piney Ridge Drive, Library, Pennsylvania. He has a younger brother, Christopher, age 8, who also entered the chess tournament for the first time, in the Grades 2-5 division. He didn't place in the events but intends to keep playing and practicing for next year's competition. Congratulations to Eric on his second place trophy and best wishes to both Eric and Christopher in all their future tournaments!
