William Penn Member Candidate For Attorney General of Pennsylvania ALLEN E. ERTEL Allen E. Ertel, a great fraternalist, a member of the William Penn Association, Branch 0089 and Penn­sylvania Fraternal Congress Legislative Committee, is a can­didate for the office of Attorney General of Pennsylvania. He first entered public life in 1967 when he was elected District Attorney in Lycoming County and won re­­election in 1971 and 1975. During his tenure as District Attorney, he cleaned up corruption in Williams­port's City Hall by convicting the Mayor and Director of Public Safety. He was re-elected in 1978 and 1980 and relinquished his congressional seat when he ran for governor in 1 982, losing by a slim margin. Born in Williamsport on November 7, 1936, Ertel graduated Summa Cum Laude from Montoursville High School in 1954, when he was cited as the school's outstanding athlete and mathematician. He earned his Bachlor of Arts Degree in Engineer­ing Science in 1 958 from Dartmouth College, where he studied under an NROTC Scholarship and achieved Dean's List academic status. He went on to earn a Master's Degree in Engineering and Business Ad­ministration in 1959 from Dart­mouth's Thayer School of Engineer­ing and Amos Tuck School of Business Administration, where he received a national award for in­dustrial engineering and again achieved Dean's List ranking. He graduated from Yale Law School in 1955. From 1 959 to 1 962 he served as an engineering officer and navigator in the U.S. Navy, during which he President John Sabo then be­stowed upon Director Joseph Arvay the Illustrious Citation, an award that is cherished by all recipients within the William Penn Association. He is currently a partner in the law firm of Reed, Smith, Shaw and McClay, one of Pittsburgh's most prestigious law firms and serves as a visiting professor at Bucknell Univer­sity's School of Management and Political Science. Ertel and his wife, the former Catherine K. Klepper of Muncy, have three children, sons Taylor, 19, and Edward, 14, and a daughter, Amy 11. They reside at R.D. 2, Mon­toursville, Pa. Office JODENE PASCARELLA Jodene Pascarella, Sales Representative from the Greater Pittsburgh Agency has been recently promoted to Agency Manager in the Wyandotte, Michigan office. Jodene assumed her duties in August and will be working along with Matilda Jagadics, office secretary. Jodene started working for the William Penn Association in February, 1983 as a Sales Repre­sentative in the Wahl Agency. Prior to this, she was an agent for another insurance company for two years. Recently Jodene completed Part 2 of the Fraternal Insurance Counselor's course. The FIC designation consists of 3 parts. She has done a fine job in selling and up-dating the member's in­surance program as well as building a good business relationship with her clients. We all wish Jodene lots of luck and success and we know she will do well.
