OFFICIAL NOTICE TO: ALL WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION MEMBERS RE: PROPOSED BY-LAW AMENDMENT To correct an error of omission at our 30th General Convention, September 1983, on the recommendation of our General Counsel, the Board found it necessary to adopt the following resolution to fix the term and duties in the By-Laws of the elected National Vice Presidents. It was adopted unanimously. If you have any questions, write the Home Office. After 30 days, the resolution will be submitted to the Convention Delegates for a mail referendum. National Secretary WPA Insurance Sales Achievements Recognized The Second Annual William Penn Association Sales Conference was held on September 16, 17 and 18, 1983, at the Sheraton Hotel, Ocean City, Maryland. Qualification requirements to attend the conference called for $1,750,000 of volume credit in issued business by each producer from October 1, 1982 through August 31, 1983. Our leading producer for the above period was Daniel Wahl with $4,991,000. Mr. Wahl was appropriately recognized with a plaque connoting his perform­ance as “Outstanding Sales Producer” during the period. RESOLUTION RESOLVED by the Board in regular session assembled that WHEREAS, the General Convention held at Pittsburgh, Pa., beginning September 1 2, 1 983, elected two (2) National Vice Presidents to hold office for four years and, WHEREAS, the Convention also restated and amended its By-Laws and inadvertently omitted reserving to the National Vice Presidents their terms, powers and duties and, WHEREAS, to clarify their status, it is deemed necessary to further amend the By-Laws by an appropriate amendment and, WHEREAS, no additional cost or expense will be involved to the Associa­tion. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board in regular meeting assembled that the following resolution be submitted to the delegates for a mail referendum after 30 days notice to the members in the official publica­tion: RESOLUTION RESOLVED by the Delegates of the William Penn Association in unassembled Convention that the Board of Directors deems it necessary to further amend the By-Laws of the Association last amended by the General Convention assembled at Pittsburgh, Pa., beginning September 1 2, 1 983, by adding the following sections: ARTICLE III SECTION 301 Members (add at the end of this section): “In addition, the two National Vice Presidents elected at the 30th General Convention shall also be ex-officio members of the Board. This provision remains in effect untill the close of the 31st General Convention.” ARTICLE III - Section 302 -Number and term of Directors (add at the end of this section): “The two National Vice Presidents elected at the 30th General Convention shall hold office concurrent with the elected Directors.” ARTICLE III—Section 308 Committees (add at the end of part (b): “The two National Vice Presidents shall also be members." ARTICLE 309—Vacancies (add at the end): “ 3 A vacancy in the office of National Vice President shall be filled by the Board from among its elected members for the balance of the unexpired term.” RESOLVED FURTHER this resolution shall be effective when the votes are tabulated by the National Secretary and if approved, certified by him and sub­mitted to the Pennsylvania Insurance Commissioner for approval. Other qualifiers with $1,750,000 of volume credit or more were, Joseph Barriero; Alex Debreczeni; Sam Sulkosky; Andrew Uzonyi of the Abel Agency in Western Pennsylvania; and Emma Oris, James Telegdy and Dawn Ward of the Ward Agency located in Northern Ohio. Associates who joined the William Penn Association April 1, 1983, or later, had a qualification requirement of $750,000 volume credit for the period ending August 31, 1983. Quali­fying with $750,000 or more were An­drew Tatar, Agency Manager in New York City; Alex Hody, Agency Manager in New Jersey, and Mike Komar of Sharon, Pennsylvania, associated with the Abels Agency. H. Ronald Abels, Agency Manager, was personally recognized for “Outstanding Agency Performance” during the contest period. Six agents in his agency qualified for the conference. Three agents in the Ward Agency in Northern Ohio qualified and Jeffrey Ward, CLU, Agency Manager, was recognized as the runner-up for the conference period. On Saturday, October 17th, a for­mal business meeting was held. This session was opened by Richard (Kovac) Smith, Sales and Marketing Consult­ant for the Association. Smith reported on progress, developments and results. He delivered greetings and messages to the qualifiers and their spouses from President Elmer Charles and recently elected President John Sabo. Agency Manager Jeff Ward then led the balance of the meeting with remarks made by each agent and an “ask-it basket” question and answer session wherein each attendee could direct written questions on techniques and procedures to any other attendee. 2
