LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, FELLOW FRATERNALISTS: This evening we are recognizing a lady, who in the truest sense of the word is and has been a true American-Hungarian Fraternalist. She is a fine example of how a loving Father and Mother can raise a daughter from infancy, to be a dedicated fraternal worker and organizer. She learned well from her late Father: GÁSPÁR PAPP, who was an ardent doer for the Munkás Egyesület, later the Verhovay Fraternal Association and then the William Penn Association, having held many positions and offices of trust, on both the Branch and National levels. Our honoree: MRS. JULIA DANKO has been a William Penn member since infancy. By the time she was 8 years old we can see her participating in the Verhovay Dance Group. Right after High School she was a Membership Campaign winner which afforded her a fully paid trip to Hungary, an experience which continually draws her back to visit Hungary. In the late thirties, she began dancing classes for the children of Branch 36, now Branch 18. She continued this work until 1971, when she turned the program over to the Dancers Hungária. Eventually her daughter, Darlene Szatmári took over the William Penn Dancers and since that time has been the choreographer of that fine group. To Julia’s credit goes the distinction of having organized the Branch 18 Junior Bowlers, a Junior Club, which at one time numbered more than 100 youngsters. She organized picnics, card parties, dances, trips and other activities. When the present William Penn Club opened, she not only gave it much of her time, but she even provided the many utensils which were needed in the kitchen. For 7 years she has made the pastries served at the Club, particularly her famous somloi dessert. Julia organized the first Branch Charter Flight to Hungary in the sixties, including one this year which is booked solid. News for Members in Indiana On July 15, 1983, the William Penn Association announced the appointment of Andrew Eperjesi of South Bend, Indiana as Agency Manager. Andy brings a wealth of experience to the William Penn Association. Formerly associated with a large insurance company, Mr. Eperjesi is experienced in tax-sheltered products and estate planning principles. Since he was a sales and management leader with his former company, we are quite sure he will be the same with the William Penn. He’s totally equipped to help you determine, “What are you worth?”, “What you want?”, “What you have?” Greet our new associate, Andrew Eperjesi, his wife Magda and their children. We welcome them and we know Andy will make you more aware and appreciative of the fraternal benefits available to you with the William Penn Association. His address is 19655 Detroit Street, South Bend, Indiana 46614. Telephone number (219) 291-0787. While she was raising her two children she saw to it that Steve (our genial Toastmaster this evening) entertained with the violin at Branch functions and her daughter Darlene performed with the dancers. Today her darling granddaughter Jennifer Szatmári is a member of the Branch 18 Dance Group. As I said in the beginning, Julia has been and we hope will continue to be a motivating force in William Penn Branch 18 activities. In recognition of her untiring efforts, the William Penn Board of Directors has conferred upon her the Illustrious Member citation, the Association’s highest recognition award. On behalf of the Board I would now like to make the presentation. In further recognition of her many sided contributions, I would now like to present, on behalf of the Board of Directors a memento recognizing her for services rendered above and beyond the call of normal duties. On behalf of all of us Julia, thank you for your past contributions and please continue to serve with equal enthusiasm in the future for the betterment of our Hungarian fraternal heritage. Thank you all. Albert Stelkovics WOMEN'S PRIZE LIST - SCRATCH EVENTS - ACTUAL NAMES 1. Team Event: CITY TOTAL PRIZE LIST Five Ace's 2.
