"1983 Fraternalist of the Year" The Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh have chosen Joseph Stefka as the “1983 Fraternalist of the Year”. Mr. Stefka is the Supreme President of the National Slovak Society and past President of the Fraternal Societies of Greater Pittsburgh. He is well known for his efforts for the member societies within the fraternal benefit system. Also honored was Louis Skeparnias as the “1983 Brotherhood of Man” recipient. In his three years as top advisor to the governor on Ethnic Affairs, Louis Skeparnias, Executive Director of the Governor’s Heritage Affairs Advisory Commission, has gained the respect and support of Pennsylvania’s fraternal leaders through his dedication to serving their needs. A testimonial banquet honoring both of these awardees was held on Saturday, March 5 at St. John’s Cathedral Center in Homestead, Pa. Congratulations to both these fine gentlemen and we wish them well in all their future endeavors. I would like to thank everyone for their cards and all the kindness and thoughtfulness shown to me during my recent illness.
