Jay Blizman painted a beautiful “Merry Christmas” banner and John Simon provided balloons that were suspended from the ceiling and given to each child as they passed through the line to be photographed with Santa Claus. They all received candy, soft drinks and a money envelope. After the Christmas entertainment, a light lunch was served to all. The Christmas Party Committee consisted of Jay Blizman, Chairman, Emma Beganyi, John Simon, Irene and George Charles, Gus and Betty Nagy and John Balia. At the January branch meeting, Gay Banes, Entertainment Chairman, outlined a tentative plan for 1983 association activities, beginning with a February “Valentine Theme” branch meeting; March meeting will have a Hungarian Independence Day theme. The other activities will be reported in future Branch 296 news. The Commit­tee has ambitious plans for an in­teresting and enjoyable Association year. Hilda Ann Joseph, Branch 296 Secretary Branch 590 Cape Coral, Florida Meeting of Branch 590 was held in Branch Manager, Anthony G. Noel’s home on January 9th, 1983, at 4:15 P.M. Nomination of officers for year 1983 was eliminated at our November 14th, 1982 meeting as all present officers of Branch 590 agreed to serve in the same capacity for another year. The officers sworn in were: Frank Sabo, President; Gabor Chikos, Vice President; Rose Darab, Secretary; Betty Bartus, Treasurer; Auditors, Helen Corrao, Elizabeth Noel, Irene Redden; Enter­tainment Chairman, Irene Redden; Reporter, Irene E. Sabo. Our representative delegate to the Special Convention, contemplating Branch Manager 590 Anthony G. Noel and Reverend Árpád Györgyi. merging with the Református egyesület, held November 27-28-29, 1982, was Branch Manager, Anthony G. Noel. Full details will be published in our Penn Life publication. Our annual Christmas party held December 15th, 1982 was an outstand­ing affair, held at the German American Social Club, Edelweiss Hall. Sixty-two adults and three children were present. Two special guests were present from Hungary, Mrs. Elza (Káli) Tőkés and Mrs. Ibolya Bodnár. November 27th, 1982 was a special day for Branch 590 President, Frank Sabo and Penn Life reporter, Irene Esau Sabo. Wedding bells were ringing on that day for them. Our William Penn Picnic was held on January 30th, 1983, 12:00 noon to 5:00 P.M. at the Florida Power and Light Co. picnic grounds. The 40th National Bowling Tourna­ment is upon us. Stephen Danko, President, the officers and members of Branch 18 invite you to come to Detroit and participate in our 40th bowling tournament. The running of the tournament is in the very capable hands of Joseph Lorincz, Secretary and Steve Vargo of Branch 18. Joe and Steve have bowled in all 40 of the tour­naments. The Branch is sponsoring an indoor soccer team of young Hungarians under the name of William Penn Association — Branch 18, Hungarians. It is a pleasure to watch them par­ticipate, their present standing is 5 wins and 1 loss; they are in first place. Congratulations to Emma and Andy Toth on the birth of their new grand­daughter, Emily Ann Nihiser, born on February 2, 1983. Emily .is the daughter of Janice and Jim Nihiser, who is the Detroit Area Insurance Agent of the William Penn Associa­tion. Steve Szatmári, Manager of our Social Club, is back in full swing after his heart operation. We wish him con­tinuing good health. Branches 34, 71, 89 39, 163 and 352 Family Christmas Party On December 5th, Branches 34, 71, 89, 39, 163 and 352 held their Family Christmas Party at the Homeville Fire Hall in West Mifflin.
