He requested each of the assembly to hold hands together and greet one another "Isten Hozott". Mr. Charles stated that the sight of the Hungarian Flag is a reminder of our heritage, our roots, our people, fathers, mothers and grandparents. Especially those members who 98 years ago organized the Verhovay which over the years now became known as the William Penn Associa­tion, the largest Hungarian fraternal society in the world. The supreme body of the Associa­tion is the assembled delegates, you, elected at District Meetings, together with the delegates pre­scribed by the By-Laws sitting facing you. Mr. Charles proceeded to officially introduce the governing body of the Society. Elmer Charles, National President; Gus G. Nagy, National Secretary- Treasurer; National Vice-Presidents, John P. Mr. Charles also introduced Mr. Zoltán Gombos, representing the Hungarian Press of the United States and Eugene Szebedinszky, Publisher of the Magyarsag Newspaper. 7) National Secretary-Treasurer, Gus G. Nagy, submitted the follow­ing Report of the Credentials Com­mittee. REPORT OF THE CREDENTIALS COMMITTEE Mr. Chairman — Fellow Delegates: Mr. Elmer Charles, National Presi­dent, in compliance with Chapter III, Section 4 of the By-Laws has ap­pointed the undersigned Credentials Committee. We, the appointed Credentials Committee, hereby certify that 33 Delegate Districts and 13 Area Delegate District Secretaries' Reports of Election of Delegates were submitted to the National Secretary and approved. Mr. Louis Varga, National Vice- President, an ex-officio delegate passed away September 4, 1983, and the Board of Directors declared a vacancy in the office of National Vice-President and the Board elected retired National Secretary, Albert Stelkovics, to fill his unexpired term. Mr. Stephen Aronne, elected delegate from District 1, informed National Secretary, Gus G. Nagy, on August 1 5, 1 983, that he would be unable to attend the Convention. Ac­cordingly, Mrs. Elizabeth Stelkovis, first alternate of District 1, has been called to this General Convention. Arthur Barillo, elected Delegate from District 6 on August 1 0, 1 983, has advised the Home Office that he is unable to attend the Convention. On August 10, 1983, Mr. Frank Zimmerman, first Alternate Delegate was called to serve. Patricia Brown, elected Delegate from Delegate District 2, notified the Home Office on September 1, 1 983, that she is unable to attend and be replaced by Alternate Delegate, Ed­ward Behuncik. Mary Magyary, elected delegate from Delegate District 19 on September 5, 1 983, has advised the Home Office that she cannot attend and that George Zelenka be called to serve as Delegate. Coleman Bertalan, elected delegate from District 17 was notified that he did not submit the re­quired report to the Home Office un­til after the certification was closed and thus no delegate is present. Stephen Gall, delegate from District 38 notified National Secretary Gus G. Nagy that he can­not attend the Convention and be replaced by Alternate Katherine Gall. Davis Nagy, elected delegate from Area Delegate District 46, informed the Home Office on August 31, 1 983, that both he and the Alter­nate Delegate, Mrs. Davis Nagy, on the advise of their doctor, could not attend the General Convention, therefore, no representation will be present from Area District 36. Joseph Javorsky, elected delegate from Area District 44 informed the Home Office on August 25, 1983, that he could not attend the General Convention, therefore, Alternate Delegate, Alex Debreczeni will at­tend. Therefore, there are 96 elected delegates, 26 ex-officio members, namely, 4 National Officers, 6 Auditing Committee members and 2 former American Life Association members for a grand total of 122 votes. There are also 7 non-voting members, namely, Gay B. Banes, General Counsel, Parliamentarian; Dr. Julius Kesseru, Medical Director; Fred Maitz, Jr., former Treasurer; Peter Kuhn, former Vice-President; Nunzio Yocca, Mario Fappiano, William Zaun, Members from the former Catholic Knights of St. George.
