Abels Becomes F.I.C. Ron Abels, manager of the William Penn Association, Western Penn­sylvania sales and service office, was recently awarded the Fraternal Insurance Counselor (FIC) designa­tion, granted by the National Frater­nal Congress of America. This important certification is awarded on successful completion of three examinations dealing with all phases of fraternal insurance. Ron's previous insurance ex­perience makes him an able financial and insurance counselor. He has recently embarked on a strenuous study program aiming toward the Certified Financial Planner degree which is awarded by the College For Financial Planning. The sales and service associates in Mr. Abels' office are working toward their FIC designation. They include: Warren Arleth, Joe Barreiro, Larry Buczkowski, Tim Doyle, George James, Don Kuchek, Frances Nicholson, Bill Schnupp, Sam Sulkosky, Andrew Uzonyi, and Daniel Wahl. Vechy, who is the recipient of the William Penn Scholarship Foun­dation award. Representing the Board of Directors and National Officers, Director Rad­­vany presented the sholarship award check to Mr. Vechy. Stephen L. Vechy graduated from Pennsbury High School, Fairless Hills, Pa. and will be a freshman at Penn State University, Ogontz Campus, pur­suing the engineering curriculum. He is working on a part-time basis at the New Jersey National Bank in Data Entry and also works part-time for Trease Catering. Stephen enjoys play­ing the electric guitar, bowling, and playing golf. His parents, Steve and Louise, are avid bowlers and bowled at all of the William Penn Bowling Tour­naments. The above resume is a fine example of why you should continue to support the Scholarship Fund in the future as you have in the past. They are as follows: MEN’S DIVISION Team Event—1st Place, Wm. Penn Br. 18—Bill Fekete’s team; 2nd Place, A&W—Joseph Soter’s team and 3rd Place, “Hussars”—Frank Render’s team. Doubles Event—1st Place, Joseph Soter and James Burinda; 2nd Place, Rudy Nagy and Joseph Pajtli and 3rd Place, Ernie Molnár and Steve Veresh. Since there were no second place or third place winners, the committee voted to divide the money among all the women’s teams that participated in the bowling tournament, namely: “No Name”, “Dot’s Dolls”, “Song Birds”, “Elite V” and “Wm. Penn Br. 18.” Singles Event—1st Place, Mary Ecsedi; 2nd Place, Violet Pasko and 3rd Place, Olga Burinda. Doubles Event—1st Place, Betty Holguin and Linda Mastrogiacoma; 2nd Place, Marge Heller and Ruth Volpe. All Events—1st Place, Mary Ecsedi and 2nd Place, Linda Mastrogiacoma. Congratulations to all who won both in the national and the local level. Remember . . . get your teams together now for the big one, marking the 40th anniversary, here in Detroit, for 1983. As usual, the card party held on September 27th at the social club was a big success. Thanks to everyone who donated, attended and helped in any way to make it such a success. Sine- our last issue I regret to inform you that John Render has passed away. We wish to offer our sincere con­dolences to his family and many friends. He will be missed by all. 10
