At our regular monthly meeting held in December, 1981, the following were elected as officers for the coming year: President, Steve Danko; Vice President, Andrew Toth; Vice President, S.P. Danko; Secretary, Dorothy Csanyi; Treasurer, Betty Holguin; Controller, James Burinda; Auditors, James Lochinger, Betty Kocsis, Frank Tima, Joseph Soter and John Ulics; Fraternal Affairs Coordinators, Darlene Szatmári and Laci Beregszazy. The Ladies Auxiliary also held their meeting on December 21, 1981 and the following officers were elected for the coming year: President, Elvira Kubovics; Vice President, Helen Hamell; Secretary, Louise Vespremi; Treasurer, Jolán Lucas; Auditors, Kathleen Lochinger and Margaret New. At this writing, I find that the Ladies Auxiliary had their Annual Christmas Party with dinner, at the William Penn Social Club, with 71 members and guests. Secretary, Louise Vespremi chaired the event, in the absence of President, Elvira Kubovics, and a good time was had by all. Every member present received a Christmas gift, sang songs and held a raffle. Thanks to Elvira and Louise for the gifts donated, which really helped our treasury. Coming events for the Ladies Auxiliary are as follows: March 8, 1982, a Card Party to be held at the Social Club . . . April 24, 1982, a Bingo for the Veterans at the Veterans Hospital, which is a Saturday afternoon . . . June 19, 1982, we will celebrate our 20th Anniversary with a dinner at the Social Club. Vacation is great . . . whenever you decide to go . . . Mary Berecz, Margaret Benke, Julia Danko, Mary Kato and Anna Toth are all looking forward to the sunny skies of Florida. As usual, the “Wooden Platter Dinner” was a sell-out. The platter was filled with the finest of food, and believe me, you left the table with a satisfied feeling. Those of you who missed this dinner, should make sure you make reservations for the next one. Our Vice President, Andy Toth, honored his wife Emma, by giving her a surprise birthday party to celebrate her 60th birthday. Emma was overjoyed to see all her family present . . . children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and in-laws, as well as a few close friends. Congratulations Emma, Branch 18 Detroit, Michigan may you enjoy many more birthdays in health and happiness. On November 10th, the “Rajkó Orchestra and Dance Ensemble” performed here in Detroit, whereby we had the pleasure to have them at our Social Club, where they entertained our members. It was indeed a pleasure to have them. February 8, 1982, the Branch held a Card Party at the Social Club. Those present had a grand time, playing cards, bunco, or just sitting around talking. The refreshments and cake were excellent. Plenty of prizes. It was an evening enjoyed by all who braved the snow and cold weather. Once again it was time for our “Annual Champagne Ball”, which was held on February 13, 1982 at the Social Club. Music was provided by Joe Balint and his Orchestra and entertainment was our own William Penn Senior Dance Group. For those of you who haven’t got out much this winter and need a little “pick-me-up”, starting Saturday, January 30th, we will have an “Aerobic Dance and Exercise Class” under the direction of Darlene Szatmári from 8:30 A.M. to 9:15 A.M. Also, from 9:15 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. we will have Hungarian fundamentals in dancing. Anyone interested, women or men, please come on Saturday, and wear whatever you would feel most comfortable in.
