(USPS 684-480) Jubilee Dinner Commemorates Merger To commemorate the merger of the American Hungarian Catholic Society into the William Penn Association, Branch 14, Cleveland, Ohio sponsored a Jubilee Dinner on Sunday, November 8, 1981 in St. Margaret's Church Hall, Cleveland, Ohio. Negotiations for the merger of these two societies had been on-Attention Bowlers The National Bowling Tournament Administrators, National Vice President, John P. Balia and Director, Steve Lesco and Branch 14, Cleveland, Ohio Tournament Committee Members are completing plans for our 39th National Bowling Tournament which will be headquartered at the Bond Court Hotel, East Sixth and St. Clair Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 441 14 (Downtown Cleveland) on Saturday, May 29 and Sunday, May 30, 1982. Activities will commence Friday with setting up the bowlers registration desk at 2:00 P.M. in the hotel lobby. Friday evening at 6:00 P.M., the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation will hold its annual meeting and all members of the Foundation that are paid should attend this important meeting in the hotel. The Hospitality Room will open after completion of the Scholarship Meeting at 7:30 P.M. Bowling will begin on Saturday, May 29 at 9:00 A.M. at the Stardust Lanes, 16725 Brook Park Road, Brook Park, Ohio. Bus transportation will be available. going for many years, until finally in December 1980, the Convention of the Catholic Society voted for the merger. The day's festivities were arranged for by National Director, Steve Lesco, who was capably assisted by his wife, Betty and by Mrs. Eleanor Paczko, secretary of the former A.H.C.S. A special thank A gala dinner-dance will be held on Saturday evening at 7:30 P.M. preceded by a reception with a cash bar at 6:30 P.M. Come join us in this fine annual celebration. HAPPY BIRTHDAY On February 21, 1982, the William Penn Association celebrates the 96th anniversary of its founding in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. On this day, we pay our respects to the founding thirteen coal miners who created our Hungarian organization. The William Penn will continue to maintain and foster its Magyar culture and heritage in the United States of America as did its founding Fathers. Make sure you and yours are among our membership as we look forward to celebrating our 100th anniversary. you goes out to all of the Lesco family who toiled unceasingly in setting up tables, preparing the food and serving it. Appropriately, the festivities began with a Hungarian Mass offered by Father Ladislaw Rosko, Pastor of St. Margaret of Hungary Church, assisted by Father Miklós Dengl, Spiritual Advisor of the A.H.C.S. The lector was retired National Secretary, Albert J. Stelkovics. The St. Margaret's Male Choir provided the beautiful Hungarian hymns during the service. Following the Mass, the congregation gathered in the St. Margaret's Social Hall where the brightly decorated tables greeted the more than 250 guests. The ladies of St. Margaret's went out of their way to provide a delicious chicken dinner with all the trimmings including chicken noodle soup. Robert Stypa, President of Branch 14 extended greetings on behalf of the Branch officers and members and welcomed the A.H.C.S. into the William Penn Family. He then introduced Mr. Steve Lesco, Director, as the Toastmaster. Mr. Lesco expressed joy at seeing such a wonderful turnout for this historic event. Rabb Jóska and his orchestra was called upon to lead the assembled guests in the Star Spangled Banner and Magyar Himnusz. Invocation was offered by Father Rosko, who gave thanks to Almighty God for bringing these two Hungarian fraternal societies together. Toastmaster Lesco introduced the following: Mr. Alex Zelle, Past President of A.H.C.S., Mr. Stephen Zelle and Mrs. Zelle, Bridgeport, Conn. Mr. Zelle served as Vice President and Convention Chairman.
