William Penn Life, 1980 (15. évfolyam, 1-4. szám)

1980-07-01 / 3. szám

A male fashion show will be held in November by our Hungarian dance group. More details on the event later. Our sympathy to Elizabeth Compton, on the loss of her husband, Charles and our good friend “Chuck”, as we all called him. He was a great and wonderful person. Kind, considerate and above all, he had compassion for all. His years on the police force did not harden him. He was a humble man. We will miss him. Branch 1 8 Detroit, Michigan In the past issue of William Penn Life, you were looking forward to an eventful and fruitful bowling tournament in Dayton, Ohio. Detroit has again had successful bowlers. Emma Toth, and her teammeates, Lucile Almassy, Mary Ecsedi, Ida Kanyo and Anen Veresh, came in first place. Congratulations ladies, we know you are very happy and we are just as proud of you. “Mothers Day” at our Social Club turned out to be one big party. It is gratifying to know that “Mother” is still the fine point of our lives, by really making her day complete, with her entire family around her, showing their love and appreciation for her never ending love and time. The William Penn Branch 18 card party on April 28th was a success. Many thanks to all who helped make it such a success by attending the card party. Special thanks to Mary J. Molnár for printing the tickets, and to Betty Kocsis, Mrs. Josza, Ann Lenny, Julia Danko, Mary Gebnar, Dorothy Csanyi, Andrew Toth, Stephen Danko, Mary Molnár, Darlene Szatmári and yours truly, Betty Holguin for the wonderful door prizes and help. Thanks again, ladies and gentlemen for your kindness in helping this party be a success. The Ladies Auxiliary card party held on May 15th was also a great success. It was a most enjoyable evening, meeting some old friends and having a great time. Prizes were plentiful and beautiful. All in all, we all had a good time, playing games and enjoying our refreshments. Mrs. Kolish with Branch 500 officers. Mrs. Mary Kolish, Branch 500, was awarded a citation for twenty-five years of dedicated service, by the Board of Directors. This citation was presented to her by Albert Stelkovics, our National Secretary, at the William Penn Branch 18 Social Club, where a dinner was served in her honor. Those in attendance were officers and members of Branch 18; Mr. Nadassi, Mrs. Kolish with Branch 18 officers. Rey Holguin, past auditor of Branch 18, gave his wife Betty, a surprise birthday present, which turned out to be a vacation in Aruba. After all, what better way to celebrate your birthday than on the sunny sands of Aruba! It is really a place to go, if you want to relax. They had a wonderful time, as we could see by their tan. At this writing the Social Club will be closed until July 21 for remodeling. It will be open on July 22, and just in time to get everything ready for the famous “wooden platter” dinner, which will be on July 26. Bowling season will soon be here. Anyone interested in bowling every other Sunday for William Penn Branch 18, please contact Rey Holguin at 291-2882. If interested in bowling for the Social Club, please contact Steve Szatmári at 381-9881. Mrs. Kolish and family. 14
