Mr. Frank Bero, President Branch 1, Bridgeport, CT and National Director was recently appointed Chairman of the Connecticut Real Estate Commis­sion by Governor Ella T. Grasso. In previous years Chairmen were elected by fellow Commissioners, this time the appointment came directly from the Governor. Mr. Bero was first appointed to the real estate commission in 1967 by then Governor John N. Dempsey and has been reappointed each term. He is a member and past president of Greater Bridgeport Board of Realtors and in 1968 was the “Realtor of the Year.” Mr. Bero is a member of the United Church of Christ, Laurel Ave., Bridgeport, CT. Pictured below is Mary Heslin, com­missioner of the state department of consumer protection, congratulating Mr. Bero after being sworn in as chair­man of the Connecticut Real Estate Commission. On Sunday, December 9th, 1979 — The William Penn Association, Branch 8, located here in Johnstown, Pa. for the past 90 years, held its election of officers for 1980 at 2 p.m., then at 3 p.m. — the Branch held its Annual Children’s Christmas Party at the Hungarian Ev. & Reform Church Social Hall, corner 9th Avenue and Chestnut Street. Re-elected by acclamation for the 5th year, the 1980 Branch 8 Officers for the William Penn Association are as follows: Mrs. Vera Petruska of 961 East Ave., President; Mrs. Shelia Alicardi, Vice-President; Mrs. Mary Schrengost, Recording Secretary; Steve Petruska, Treasurer; and Mrs. Ida Sipos and Mrs. Alexis Kozak as Auditors. Francine, a graduate of University of Pittsburgh, has held several titles, including Miss Central Pennsylvania in 1974; and besides win­ning several dance scholarships, she has choreographed and performed in many shows throughout New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania and Mary­land.
