VOLUME 15 WINTER 1980 NUMBER 1 National Bowling Tournament and Scholarship Days: May 23-25, 1980 The locale for our 37th National Bowling Tournament and Scholarship Days will be Dayton, Ohio. It has been a long time since Branch 249, Dayton, Ohio has hosted the National Bowling Tournament on the banks of the Great Miami River. We look forward, with eager anticipation, for a glorious weekend in Dayton, Ohio. The headquarters Hotel will be the Stouffer’s Dayton Plaza Hotel. This hotel is located between the new Convention and Transportation Centers. It is a 14 story, 300 room hotel, with heated swimming pool. All William Penn members and friends in attendance should have excellent accommodations and everyone should be satisfied and happy. The Capri Lanes, 2727 South Dixie Ave., have been contracted for the Tournament. The proprietor, Ernest Talos, a fine Hungarian, has promised the Committee the best of service, including a sufficient number of competent scorekeepers—this is a must to keep our bowlers happy. Branch 249, Dayton, Ohio is the host Branch. National Director Albert G. Kertesz, who is also the Branch Manager, is the Tournament Administrator. He has been working for a long time very diligently on plans, so that everyone will be satisfied with the final arrangements. As Administrator of the Tournament he is capably assisted by Mr. John P. Balia, National Vice President and Mr. Gus G. Nagy, Vice President of Membership Services. Branch President, Mr. John Motko has assured everyone that the Dayton members will go all out to make this a real good weekend. Mr. Steve Horvath, Branch Vice President of Fraternal Affairs is seeing to it that Dayton will be well represented with a large number of teams. Branch 249 is introducing something new and different into the weekend plans. This should prove to be very satisfying and most effective. It is our understanding that in cooperation with the Branch Officers Mrs. Margaret Vassy Demeter and Mrs. Ann Kertesz Branch Secretary-Treasurer are planning a style show, which should provide the women with a special attraction. Dayton of course is famous for its Air Force Museum, certainly those of us who will be in Dayton should make plans to visit this historical museum. Dayton also has other sightseeing places of interest, the local Committee will assist everyone in seeing these sights. There will, naturally, be a Dinner- Dance Saturday evening on May 24, 1980 in the Hotel’s Grand Ballroom. The ever popular Frank Borisz and his Continental Orchestra of renown, from Cleveland, Ohio will provide the music. We also understand that he will have Mr. Ivan Dezső Jr. as a guest participant in the orchestra. We look forward to some fine entertainment by Frank and his boys. The Co-Administrators advise us that entry forms, rules and regulations, room reservation cards, banquet ticket information etc. will soon be mailed to all Team Captains of record and to all Branch Managers throughout the country. All Branch Officers are requested to pass all information on to their Bowlers and Branch Managers and should make every effort to get the completed entry forms with appropriate checks back by the stated deadline so that scheduling be properly made. (Continued on Pane 3) 1980 Tour To Hungary In several of the previous issues of William Penn Life, we have been keeping the membership abreast of the plans for a 1 980 Tour to Hungary. With the January 1980 premium payment notices, a brochure was mailed, giving details of the flight to Hungary and the two Land Tours which have been planned for our participating members. This information has also been mailed to all of those, who previously indicated, in writing, that they desired to participate in the William Penn Tour to Hungary. From past experiences, we know that the members have many questions concerning the Tour. Anticipating these questions, we have prepared some answers to questions which you may have, and have also provided a convenient application form for those who may not as yet received one.
