Delegates from Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin Representatives, to the Home Office Employees whose fine cooperation and dedicated efforts have been the vitaliz­ing force in the progress, as reflected in the convention report. Together with the Officers, Board of Directors, Auditing Committee members, united in a singleness of purpose, guided by traditional concepts and practices, we enter our new term with an ever­­widening and diversified program of insurance services an increasingly aware and involved membership. With all of these essentials to success, I firm­ly believe that our Society is assured of growth, fraternally and financially in the years to come. Thank you and God bless you. 53) Delegate Stephen G. Danko of­fered an inspiring talk regarding the progress of our Association and the development of various programs at Branch 18, Detroit, Michigan. Branch 18 has always been a forerunner in fraternal activities which encompasses the youth as well as the elderly members. Mr. Danko stated he has been authorized by Branch 18 to pledge financial assistance in building of a cottage at Penn’s Scenic View for the campers. He challenged other Branches to make similar pledges. This pledge received an overwhelming ap­plause from the convention delegates. Mr. Charles thanked Delegate Danko for this most generous offer and stated that this was the beginning of another blessing. 54) Delegate James Katona from Branch 18, Detroit, Michigan also pledged his support along with other members of the Detroit delegation towards the development of Penn’s Scenic View. 55) National Vice President Louis L. Varga thanked the delegates for the confidence placed in him by re-electing him as National Vice President. He, too, was truly inspired by the words spoken previously with regards to the development of our youth by Delegate Danko, and he pledges to bring before the membership of Branch 1, Bridgeport, Connecticut the same of­fer, hoping that the Branch will lend its full support to the building of a cottage at Penn’s Scenic View. 56) The following delegates spoke on the subject of Penn’s Scenic View: National Vice President John P. Balia, as President of Branch 296, Springdale, Pa. accepted the challenge and pledged that he would exert every effort to have Branch 296 also support the building of a cottage at Penn’s Scenic View. Delegate Joseph Arvay, as President of Branch 19, New Brunswick, N.J. stated that his Branch was one of the first to donate more than $11,000.00 when the Scholarship Foundation was created and he pledges that Branch 19 will also support the building of a cot­tage. Delegate Frank Bero, President of Branch 1, Bridgeport, Conn, also ac­cepts the challenge and will put the question before Branch 1 membership for support. Delegate Frank J. Radvany, Presi­dent of Branch 13, Trenton, N.J. also accepts the challenge on behalf of the Trenton membership. Delegate Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. states that Branch 132, South Bend, Ind. was one of the first Branches to support the Verhovay Crippled Children’s Fund, supported bowling, scholarship and other programs. He assures the convention that Branch 132 will also pledge the support for building a cottage at Penn’s Scenic View. Also speaking on this challenge were General Counsel Gay B. Banes on behalf of Branch 226, McKeesport, Pennsylvania; Delegate Albert G. Kertesz, Branch Manager, Branch 249, Dayton, Ohio; Roger G. Nagy, Presi­dent of Branch 71, Duquesne, Pa. pledged the resources of his Branch for this worthy cause. Speaking in favor was Delegate Stephen Danko, President of Branch 18, Detroit, Michigan and Delegate John T. Lesko, Sr., Bridgeport, Con­necticut. Chairman Charles expressed grateful thanks to all who spoke on behalf of accepting the responsibility of paying for the building of a cottage at Penn’s Scenic View. He encouraged all Branches, either individually or joint­ly, to join this movement. He feels cer­tain that with the Board of Directors help and approval ways and means can be found for the Branches to finance this program through the Association. 57) Chairman Charles stated that the next item on the Agenda is the elec­tion of Alternate Directors and Alter­nate Auditing Committee Members. The candidates presented themselves before the delegates whereby they each introduced themselves. Present were William J. Kovach, Walter Bero, Steve Petruska, Roger G. Nagy, Walter Stelkovis, Joseph Arvay, Frank J. Wukovits, Jr., Barbara Banes Botkin, Michael Tomcsak, Mary Ivancso, Elmer Toth and Stephen G. Danko. 58) The Alternate Auditing Com­mittee also presented themselves before the delegates and introduced themselves. Present were Anthony C. Beke, James Katona, Julius Yuhasz, Anna Wash, Cindy Hartman, and Robert Stypa. 59) Mr. Charles next introduced John McCarthy, Chairman of the Elec­tions Committee. Mr. McCarthy ex­plained that there is one ballot which indicates 12 candidates for Alternate Directors and delegates can vote for the 12 candidates. He further explained that the ballot also contained the names of six can­didates for Alternate Auditing Com­mittee. Delegates will vote for only three candidates for the Alternate Auditing Committee. Chairman McCarthy next intro­duced the Elections Committee which consisted of John McCarthy, Chair­man, Anthony C. Beke, Joseph Arvay, William J. Kovach, Stephen P. Danko, Stephen Mészáros, Mary Miller and Elmer Toth. 28
