RECEPTION WELCOME —A gala reception at the William Penn Association in Lincoln Park welcomed the Hungarian Ambassador to the Downriver area Thursday night, October 1 8th. Welcoming the ambassador was Steve Danko (leftl president of the William Penn Association Branch 18 Others shown are Ambassador Ferenc Esztergályos, Dr. Cornelius Navori, a Lincoln Park physi cian and leader in the Hungarian community and Mrs. Julia Danko. Hungarian people. They have planned many events to help finance their trip for 1980. One was a Disco Night, which was held on October 12th. The other was a Card Party/Fashion Show on November 5th at 7:00 p.m. Please patronize their functions, in order to realize a dream for our young dancers. We understand that the delegates that were present at the convention in Pittsburgh thoroughly enjoyed the meetings, and especially the beautiful Scenic View, that will be a reality in the near future with all the plans progressing ahead. Our congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gall on the marriage of their daughter, Debbie to Glenn C. Wolfe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carson Wolfe. Debbie and Glenn were married on October 26, 1979 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, followed by a reception at the Grecian Center in Southgate. Upon their return from their honeymoon from the Pocono Mountains, the young couple will reside in Lincoln Park, Michigan. DEBBIE GALL Her bridesmaids were: Darlene Szatmári, Irene Savanyo, and flower girl was Jennifer Szatmári. Brian Wallgreve was best man with John Savanyo as the ring bearer and Brian Barrett as usher. Debbie was one of our original young Hungarian dancers and instructors. Congratulations to you Debbie and Glenn. We understand that Andy and Emma Toth are taking a trip to California so they can take their grandson to Disney Land for his 7th birthday. They will be accompanied by their daughter and son-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Allen Vashar and Janice and Jim Nihiser. What a nice birthday present for that grandson of yours. Have fun. A Dinner-Dance was held at the Branch 18 Social Club on October 18, 1979 to honor the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of Hungary, Ambassador Ferenc Esztergályos, and also Ferenc Sipka, First Secretary of the People’s Republic of Hungary. V/e had a wonderful crowd, who were elated to have him in their presence. He is indeed, a very warm and humble person. The Ambassador advised us that this was his fifth year in the United States, and that he was very pleased with the wonderful reception in his honor. On Friday, October 19, 1979, he was received at the Allen Park City Hall by Mayor Frank Lada and all the city administration officials. After viewing the City Hall facilities and their Police Department, Mayor Lada presented the Ambassador with the Key to the City of Allen Park. Thereafter, accompanied by President Danko of Branch 18 of the William Penn Association, Mayor Frank Lada, former National President of the William Penn Association, Julius Macker, Paul Domeny, International Vice-President of the United Catering Restaurant and Bar and Hotel Workers of America, AFLCIO, took a helicopter view of the Metropolitan Area of Detroit and its suburbs through the courtesy of the Huron Valley Steel Corp., hosted by John (Gib) Seguin, who is a member of the William Penn Social Club. After having lunch at the William Penn Club all were received by Emil Mazey, Secretary-Treasurer of the OFFICIAL WELCOME —His Excellency Ferenc Esztergályos, Ambassador to the United States from the Peoples Republic of Hungary (third from right) receives an official welcome to Allen Park from Mayor Frank Lada (third from left). On hand were (from left) Judge Albert DeBiasi, Treasurer Dorothy Moore, Lada, Esztergályos, Ferenc Lipka, first secretary of the Hungarian Embassy, and Allen Park Councilman R. Don Pretty. The ambassador spent Friday morning in Allen Park and also took an aerial tour of Downriver communities. 1 5
