(USPS 684 480) WILLIAM OFFICIAL PUBLICATION THE WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION • PITTSBURGH, PA. 15219 • PHONE (412) 281-8950 VOLUME 14 FALL 1979 NUMBER 4 The 29th General Convention Of The William Penn Association Committees for their fine work. (Names of Committee Members can be found in the Minutes of the Convention). Never in the history of an ethnic fraternal benefit society, of which there are many in the U.S.A. do we know of all the National Officers, Directors and Auditors being reelected by a unanimous vote. This confidence of the delegates gave a stamp of approval for this Administration's performance and it was the unanimous desire of the delegates to continue this same Administration in office for the next four years. Elected by acclamation were: Elmer Charles, National President; John P. Balia and Louis L. Varga, National Vice Presidents; Albert J. Stelkovics, National Secretary-Treasurer. Board of Directors: Frank Bero, Stephen Danko, Zoltán B. Emri, Michael Hegedűs, Albert G. Kertesz, William C. Kohut, Stephen Lang, Steve Lesco, Frank J. Radvany, John Sabo, Joseph Toma, Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. Also members of the Board are John T. Lesko, Sr. and Paul Molocko who came on the Board as a result of the finalization of the American Life merger into William Penn Association. Auditing Committee Members re-elected unanimously: Mrs. Emma Beganyi, Charles Fabian, Louis L. Fodor, Michael Hrabar, Michael Kara and Mrs. Violet Lenart. A history making quadrennial convention of the William Penn Association came to a successful conclusion after two and one-half days of serious deliberations. In this issue of the William Penn Life we publish the entire proceedings of the Convention by printing the Minutes in their entirety. This gives all of our valued members an opportunity to read in detail about the way their elected delegates carried out their mandates. The National Officers and Board of Directors planned everything well, down to the smallest detail. Once again it was very helpful that the Reports of the Board of Directors, Auditing Committee and Actuary were mailed out in advance to the delegates, they had plenty of time to review these reports and make notes on those portions which they had questions about. Mr. Elmer Charles, Convention Chairman, expertly conducted the proceedings ably assisted by Co-Chairman John P. Balia and Louis L. Varga. Minutes were accurately recorded by Convention Secretary Frank J. Radvany assisted by Albert J. Stelkovics. General Counsel Banes was the appointed Parliamentarian. The business of the Convention was helped a great deal by the excellent work of the various Committees appointed by National President Charles. We wish to thank Mr. Edward J. Behuncik Chairman of the Nominating Committee, Mr. John F. McCarthy Chairman of the Elections Committee, Mr. Stephen G. Danko Chairman of the Resolutions Committee, Mrs. Elizabeth Messinger, Chairlady of the Banquet Committee and Albert J. Stelkovics, Chairman of the Credentials Committee as well as all the diligent members of these OFFICIAL NOTICE TO ALL MEMBERS The By-Laws of the William Penn Association provide that at the November Branch Meeting the Branch President is to appoint a Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee must then make its report to the Branch Meeting in December. Chapter XI, Section 6 of the By-Laws further provides that election of Branch Officers shall take place at the December Meeting and those elected shall be installed into their respective offices at that same meeting. All beneficial members of the Association are cordially invited to attend their respective Branch Meetings, take an active part in the affairs of the Branch and if called upon to serve or to assist be willing to do this for the good of the Branch, its members and the Association. With everyone cooperating we can achieve wonders as a Fraternal Benefit Society. ___________ Installation of the re-elected officers was conducted by Mr. Frank J. Radvany, Sr.( Branch 13, Trenton, New Jersey who is the grand old gentleman of William Penn having served for many years as Branch Officer, Convention delegate, Board member and Convention Chairman. The complete Installation ceremony is included in the Minutes. We wish to highlight here that the Convention approved the recommendation of the Board of Directors that this administration expand its efforts to build a larger Hungarian membership nationwide, and to promote our Magyar heritage. Develop insurance programs and fraternal programs to serve our people and above all develop a field force to contact and serve this market.
