Minutes of The Board of Directors Quarterly Meeting Excerpts of Minutes of the Second Quarterly Meeting of the Board of Directors of the William Penn Association held June 11-13, 1979 in the Board Room of the Home Office in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. 1) National President and Chairman of the Board Elmer Charles opened the meeting at 10:00 A.M. He welcomed the Board of Directors and National Officers to the second quarterly meeting. He stated it was a pleasant privilege to greet everyone this morning, especially the two new members who are present in an advisory capacity from the American Life Insurance Association. Mr. Charles informed them that in accordance with the merger agreement the American Life Insurance Association board of directors were elegible to sit with the William Penn Association Board of Directors in an advisory capacity. They may exercise the privilege of speaking, discussing or advising on various topics of discussion, however they do not have the privilege of voting. Mr. Charles stated that at the beginning of the merger discussions there were nine members on the American Life Board of Directors. As of April 10, 1979 when the merger went into effect there are three members in good standing on the American Life Board, namely, Messrs. Louis Janik, John T. Lesko and Paul Molocko. Mr. Janik was unable to attend this meeting due to illness. Present are John T. Lesko and Paul Molocko. Mr. Charles once again welcomed Mr. Lesko and Mr. Molocko. Mr. Charles also welcomed Former National Treasurer Julius E. Somogyi who was present for the opening of this meeting. He was happy to see Mr. Somogyi in good health. He also welcomed Vice President of Membership Services Gus G. Nagy and Vice President of Marketing Stephen T. Szilagyi. He was also very happy to see Mr. Szilagyi present who was just released from the hospital following a brief illness. Mr. Charles stated that National Secretary-Treasurer Albert J. Stelkovics was hospitalized during the bowling tournament and is recuperating in the hospital following surgery for a kidney stone. He expects to be released from the hospital soon. Mr. Charles read a short letter from Mr. Stelkovics thanking everyone for their prayers, cards and best wishes. The President announced that there is a Mayor’s Conference being held in Pittsburgh and there are among the mayors several mayors and Public Administrators from Hungary, namely, Dr. Papp Lajos, Secretary of State, Budapest; Dr. Imre Verebelyi, Budapest; Dr. Farkas Otto, Budapest; Papp Gyula, Szeged and Dr. Acs István, Debrecen. He extended a cordial invitation for the mayors, board of directors and national officers to attend a dinner this evening. He extended congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Novak who celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Mr. Novak is Branch Manager of Branch 37, Hudson, New York. Mr. Charles announced the following deaths: Menyhárt M. Furedy, Father of Frances A. Furedy, Home Office Employee. Michael Nagy, Illustrious Member, Branch 383, Buffalo, New York. The members present rose for a moment of silent prayer in memory of all deceased members. Recently hospitalized were: Albert J. Stelkovics, National Secretary-T reasurer. Stephen T. Szilagyi, Vice President of Marketing. Mrs. Ethel Fodor, wife of Auditing Committee Member Louis A. Fodor. The President extended sincere thanks and appreciation to Director and Mrs. William Kohut for the wonderful social get-together they hosted on Sunday afternoon for the Board of Directors and National Officers. The Chairman stated that the Agenda is prepared and officially called the meeting to order. 2) The members pledged allegiance to the flag of the United States of America. 3) Vice President Louis L. Varga offered the following invocation: Lord, we thank Thee for restoring the health of our Vice President Stephen T. Szilagyi and our Secretary- Treasurer Albert J. Stelkovics and Gladys Wukovits, and we pray and ask to grant Helen Nemeth and Louis Janik improved health. Lord, we bow our heads before Thee as a sign of reverence to You. We thank Thee for Thy many gifts, benefits and past success. May we remain humble in spirit and forever mindful that You are the source of all things. We especially thank Thee, Lord, for granting us the courage, the patience, the faith, stamina and fortitude that was necessary to have in bringing about the unification of our Society with the former Bridgeporti Szövetség. This historical milestone in Hungarian Fraternal Benefit Societies demonstrates our assiduous determination to grow and lead in Fraternal Society activities. Continue to guide us in the path of righteousness and truth; keep our deliberations honorable and responsible. Bind us together in our love for each other and grant us the joy of a happy progressive meeting. Lord, as we face the new challenges of the future, we need and seek Thy protection and strength. Guide us with Thy spirit so that we may serve You faithfully and our members beneficially. We ask that Your kindness be upon us. Amen. 4) Secretary of the Board, Frank J. Radvany, called the roll and the following are present: National President Elmer Charles; National Vice Presidents Louis L. Varga and John P. Balia; Directors, Frank Bero, Stephen Danko, Zoltán B. Emri, Michael Hegedűs, Albert G. Kertesz, William C. Kohut, Stephen Lang, Jr., Steve Lesco, Frank J. Radvany, John Sabo, Joseph Toma, Frank J. Wukovits, Sr.; Vice President of Marketing Stephen T. Szilagyi, Vice President of Membership Services Gus G. Nagy and General Counsel Gay B. Banes. Also present in an advisory capacity, Mr. John T. Lesko and Mr. Paul Molocko. 5) The Agenda is adopted with the proviso that any matter properly belonging before this meeting may be added thereto during the course of the meeting. 6) Secretary of the Board, Frank J.
