The site of the 1980 National Bowling Tournament has been awarded to Dayton and was so announced at this years gala bowler dinner-dance in Pittsburgh. As a co-administrator for next year’s tournament week-end I am in the process of formulating a local committee to help make this affair a grand success. Anyone wishing to serve on this committee, please call me at 275-6654. Our Branch would also like to sponsor several teams in the tournament. It’s not too early to start formulating teams. Our Fraternal Affairs Chairman is Steve Horvath. Let’s get behind him and give him our full cooperation. Our Association is sponsoring a tour to Hungary in 1980. Those who have been on one of our sponsored tours are well aware of the pre-planning that goes into such a trip. Anyone interested in our tour to Hungary in 1980 may call me for further information. As a matter of information, I am on the air once again with “Music of Hungary”, on WCXL-FM, 88.7 on the FM dial, on Friday morning from 9 until 11 A.M. Those in the Dayton area with an outside antenna should have no trouble receiving the program. If you’re unable to pull in our signal, I can only say, be patient! An application has been filed with FCC to relocate the transmitter towers in the downtown area and to increase the power output. All arrangements have been made for our second annual Hungarian picnic to be held from noon on Sunday, August 4, 1979 at Assumption Church picnic grounds, Leechburg, Pa. President John P. Balia has all of his committee members ready to serve our members and friends. This year there will be a variety of Hungarian food available, stuffed cabbage and fine pastries baked by our dear lady members. In addition to this there will be plenty of other foods and refreshments available. Mickey Schwartz and his renowned orchestra will furnish dance music from 5 P.M. until dark. Everyone is cordially invited to join with us for day of fun and frolic. Branch 590 Cape Coral, Florida Branch Manager Anthony Noel and his gracious wife Elizabeth were our hosts at the May 6th meeting. Taking advantage of a beautiful, sunny day and our hosts inviting pool, those present combined our meeting later with fun and pleasure. Recent transferees from Lorain, Ohio, Branch 17 were present at this meeting, Rose and Charles Bedell of 33 Tropic Drive, Ft. Myers, FL. On the enclosed photo they are standing far right in the background, next to president, Frank Sabo. Our next meeting will be held on August 26, 1979 at 1323 SE. 35th Street. The response has been great and all of those who sent in a coupon indicating they were interested in participating in the 1 980 Tour have received a letter from National President Mr. Charles acknowledging their intention. The Board of Directors authorized the sponsorship of a tour to Hungary during the year 1 980, thus affording many of our members the opportunity to visit the native land of their forefathers who came to this Country many decades ago. There will be a membership drive connected with the Tour thereby assuring participants of earning enough credits to pay for part or all of the airfare.
