National Bowling Tournament Dinner-Dance Was Huge Success The highlight of the entire Memorial Day weekend was the beautiful ban­quet held Saturday evening, May 26, 1979 at the William Penn Hotel. A delicious meal was enjoyed by more than 500 bowlers, National Directors, Auditors, friends and members of the Association. The Master of Ceremonies, Mr. Gus G. Nagy, Vice President, Membership Services, introduced National Presi­dent, Elmer Charles who expressed gratitude to the members of the Bowl­ing Committee National Vice Presi­dent, John P. Balia, Gus G. Nagy, Vice President, Membership Services, Director William C. Kohut and Direc­tor John Sabo for work well done. National President Charles extended warm greetings to all present. His ex­­cellenty Ferenc Esztergályos, the Am­bassador of the People’s Republic of Hungary and Mr. Lajos Sipka, 1st Secretary of the Embassy were in­troduced and welcomed by Mr. Charles. Mr. Charles also expressed his gratitude for work well done and for­mally introduced Mrs. Betty Walker, former Secretary of the Investment Life Insurance Company - American Fund, Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Charles announced the successful merger of American Life into William Penn Association and welcomed all those members into the William Penn Association. The main event of the program was a delightful presentation of Hungarian dancing performed by the members of William Penn Branch 18 of Detroit, Michigan. Attired in authentic Hungarian costumes, the male and female dancers presented skits along with the traditional Hungarian dances which were enjoyed by all. The dancers National President, Elmer Charles. ranged in age from the wee ones to the instructors who performed with the vitality of young Hungarian maidens. Our deepest appreciation and praise is extended to the dancers under the leadership of Darlene Szatmári and Debbie Gall. Darlene is the daughter of National Director and Mrs. Stephen Danko and the wife of Stephen Szat­mári, Manager of the William Penn Social Club in Detroit. Their daughter Jennifer was one of the featured dancers. The awards to the bowlers were distributed by Directors Frank J. Wukovits, Joseph Toma, Steve Lesco and Frank Radvany. Music by Mickey Schwartz was en­joyed by all until 1:00 A.M. Scores of the Tournament can be found elsewhere in this publication. We express our sincere gratitude to all of the Bowlers who participated in the Tournament and helped in making it such a success. We look forward to meeting all of you in Dayton, Ohio at the 1980 National Bowling Tourna­ment. OFFICIAL NOTICE To comply with Section 2 (15P.S. 8503) of the Pennsylvania In­surance Laws, I, the undersigned, Elmer Charles, National President of the William Penn Association, do hereby issue a call for the convening of the 29th General Convention of the William Penn Association, to be held in William Penn Hotel, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, commencing Monday, September 10, 1979 at 9:00 A.M. The National Convention is the Supreme Legislative and Governing Body of the Association and, accordingly, included in the Agenda will be proposed By-Law Amendments, election of National Officers, Board of Directors and Members of the Auditing Committee, and the Convention will transact any other business which may properly come before it. All duly elected delegates and those, who by virtue of their office are members of the National Convention, are cordially requested to ap­pear in the stated place at the stated time, bringing their credentials with them.
