Stelkovics read the Minutes of the Ex­ecutive Committee meeting held on February 28th and March 1, 1979. He also read a memorandum opinion ad­dressed to the Board of Directors by General Counsel Gay B. Banes pertain­ing to the American Life Merger Agreement pertaining to American Life representation on the William Penn Association Board of Directors and the General Convention September 10, 1979. The Board acknowledged the Ex­ecutive Committee report as a basis for further deliberations. 10) National President Elmer Charles commenced to review the Minutes of the Executive Committee meetings of February 28th and March 1, 1979 page by page. 11) The Board acknowledged that the employees pension plan is almost fully funded and the National Officers are authorized to completely fund the pension plan, prior to the September General Convention. 12) National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics read a letter from Attorney Daniel McDonald of the Coles, O’Connell, Dolan and McDonald law firm, Bridgeport, Connecticut, who represent the William Penn Associa­tion in the Connecticut Courts re the American Life Insurance Association. He forwarded a copy of the Final Judgement Entry signed by Hon. G. Sarsfield Ford, Judge Fairfield Coun­ty, Connecticut Superior Court in the January 17, 1979 Interlocutory Order. Mr. McDonald then details in chronological order of events to follow. (1) The appeal period ends March 22, 1979. (2) On April 2, 1979 there will be filed with the Court a sup­plemental accounting. If the Court ap­proves the supplemental accounting the next step will be (3) Transfer of American Life assets to William Penn Association which is scheduled for April II, 1979. The Board acknowledged the letter. 13) The Board of Directors will be called upon, in accordance with the merger agreement, to select one of the survivi ig American Life Insurance Association Directors as Director of the William Penn Association after the merger has been consummated. 14) On the basis of a previous Board resolution, Mr. Robert E. The publisher offered a prize to the reader who presented the liest philosophy of life. To make certain the Spectator of­fice would not be flooded with long essays or book-length expositions, each entry had to be written on a reg­ular postcard. The winning entry: “Love, trust, dare, and go on doing it.” Membership Campaign The Board of Directors has authorized a continuous Membership Cam­paign which offers cash prizes to the participants. The purpose of the Membership Campaign is to increase the William Penn Association member­ship thereby strengthening this fraternal benefit society. Another purpose is to afford an opportunity for European Trip participants or Bowlers to the Na­tional Bowling Tournament or participants in any other trip arranged for William Penn members to earn some money to help defray expenses in con­nection with these fraternal activities. The rules which apply to this member­ship campaign are simple: 1. Campaign continues until withdrawn by Board. 2. All insurance plans presently being sold by the Association may be sold to prospective members. 3. Premium must be paid on an annual or semi-annual basis, (quarterly or monthly payments not accepted). 4. Contestants' prize money will be in direct relationship to the first an­nual premium amount paid by the new member. 5. No medical examination report is required nor will there be inspection reports ordered for amounts of $5,000.00 thru insurance age 60. 6. William Penn members desiring to participate in the Membership Campaign must complete and return the Membership Campaign Enrollment Form printed at the end of this article. 7. Special Agents, Branch Managers and Full time men, that is anyone who has a commission contract with the Association, cannot par­ticipate in the Membership Campaign unless they waive their contrac­tual commissions. 8. Those enrolling in the Membership Campaign will receive application forms, rates and instructions from the Home Office. This is a splendid opportunity for members to serve the Association by helping to increase the membership.
