Mr. Elmer Charles, National President Receives Theodore von Karman Award Elmer Charles responding to award. Hungarian young lady to receive this honor. The invocation was given by Dr. Avraham Soltes, Jewish Chaplin of the United States Military Academy. Prayer of Thanksgiving was given by Reverend Dr. John Butosi, Bishop Calvin Synod. Readings were extended by Mr. Eugene Oross, Chairman of the Board, American Hungarian Foundation and August J. Molnár, President of the Foundation talked about the three year expansion program. In addition to the von Karman Award, George Washington Awards were given to Anthony N. Domonkos, M.D. and Janos Scholz, renowned cellist. We wish to add our personal good wishes and solicitations to National President Charles for again being recognized by the community at large for his efforts on behalf of the William Penn Association. Banes, Marie Tady and Julia Bero. Each year for the past 16 years the American Hungarian Foundation holds its George Washington Awards Dinner and periodically awards its Theodore von Karman Award. This award is named in memory of the Hungarian born scientist who is one of the Foundations first major benefactors. The award recognizes the philanthropy and service of those persons who like Dr. Karman have given major gifts to the Foundation or rendered eminent services for other philanthropies and who through their own example have inspired others to do likewise. This year the Foundation selected Mr. Elmer Charles, National President William Penn Association to receive this award. The award was presented in the Manhatten Club, New York City November 30, 1977. Members of the Board of Directors, Officers, members of the Auditing Committee together with many friends from the Pittsburgh area and from the Eastern States participated to make this evening a complete success.
