The doll house was carved out of 36,000 pieces of wood, primarily rosewood and Indian mahogany. The exterior also consists of miniature bricks and mortar. The floors are pieces of straw pieced together into a mosiac pattern. The doll house is 71 inches high, 48 inches wide and 36 inches deep and weighs about 300 pounds. Varga, standing at right next to the doll house, smiles proudly as his work product is admired by U.S. Senator William Proxmire of Wisconsin, at left closest to the doll house, and White House Congressional Liaison staff members Bill Cable and Dan Tate. The William Penn Association is proud of Mr. Varga’s artistic work. Children’s Christmas Party was very successful this year and we had a fairly large attendance. There was carol singing, pop, pretzels and potato chips while awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus. We were fortunate again to have Rev. Imre Kovács, Pastor United Church of Christ lead us in carol singing. On behalf of the Branch Officers Mr. John P. Balia welcomed the children and National President Elmer Charles extended greetings on behalf of the Board of Directors. Thanks to Jay Blizman for again playing the part of Santa. Santa distributed silver dollars and half pound chocolates to each child. After this there was a 45 minute Magicians show which was enjoyed by children and adults alike. Our thanks to Mr. Gus G. Nagy, Vice President for making all the arrangements and to Emma Balia, Sue Matte, Mary Stelkovics, Gregory Nagy, Albert J. Stelkovics and Stephen Szilagyi for helping out. After the program there was a social hour for the children and adults in the William Penn Room. Election of Officers was held at the regular December meeting December 21. Re-elected were the following: President John P. Balia, Vice President Julius Telegdy, Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics, Treasurer Gus G. Nagy, Auditors Jay Blizman, Mary Weseloskie and Jenny Wish. Entertainment Chairmen Jay Blizman and Social Chairman Sue Matte. George Charles Sr. continues as Branch Manager. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of the month at 7:30 P.M., 130 Walter Lane, Springdale, Pa. We have been having 30-40 members present at our meetings, we would like to see this number increase. Our Bowlers held a successful Christmas Party and plans are being made for a large represenation at the Detroit National Bowling Tournament in 1978. Two Ladies Teams will again participate inn the State Tournament in Sharon, Pa., May 1978. Branch 525 Los Angeles, Calif. We wish to notify all members of Branch 525, Los Angeles, California that Mr. Eugene A. Fintor, who for more than 20 years was manager of Branch 525, resigned at the December Branch meeting. Mr. Fintor was a dedicated, sincere fraternalist, who at all times performed his duties faithfully. We at the Home Office were always accustomed to having everything taken care of properly and promptly. All of us will miss Mr. Fintor and his services. In his stead the Home Office has appointed Mr. Andrew S. Gotz to manage the affairs of Branch 525. Branch 705 Mayville, Wisconsin It was once again a pleasure to represent the William Penn Association at the Ninth Mid-Year Joint meeting of the Wisconsin Fraternal Congress. The meeting was called to order by President, Hornsby Mims at the Home Office of Aid Association of Lutherans in Appleton, Wisconsin. The main speaker of the morning session was Dr. Martin L. Koehneke, Vice President, Fraternal Operations of A.A.L. He spoke on the importance of the coordinated efforts of his department that of Marketing Operations. His address was entitled,—“Ed I need you—”. The afternoon speaker was Edward A. Merten, Senior Vice-President, Marketing Operations of A.A.L. His talk was entitled, “Marty, 1 Need You—”, The two speeches of course complimented each other and expressed the need in a Fraternal operation of both Fraternalism and the sale of Fraternal merchandise.
