Sheppard on Sunday, June 13, 1976. Director Sabo informed the Board that it was a very nice black tie affair. Many influential dignitaries were present from many states throughout the country. The Offcers had an opportunity to meet and speak with individuals from many insurance departments and he felt our presence was most beneficial to our Association. Commissioner Sheppard received the Eleanor Roosevelt Humanitarian Award at this testimonial dinner. 7) Vice President Balia, Vice President Gus G. Nagy and National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics were excused at this time to count the mail ballots cast by William Penn Association General Convention Delegates relative to the merger of the St. George Catholic Union of Perth Amboy, New Jersey. The Committee returned and informed the Board that 118 ballots had been mailed out to our Convention Delegates. 104 ballots were returned approving the merger. There were no negative ballots cast. Therefore, the merger of the St. George Catholic Union with the William Penn Association was unanimously approved. 8) National Secretary Albert J. Stelkovics read the Minutes of the Executive Committee meetings held on May 13 and 14, 1976. The Board ensued on a page by page discussion on these minutes. 9) The Board meeting was recessed at 11:30 A.M. for the purpose of attending the Flag Day ceremonies at Point Park being conducted by the Greater Pittsburgh Fraternal Societies. 10) The members attended the Flag Day ceremonies which was well received by the public in attendance. The program lasted about 30 minutes with a flag raising exercise and singing of God Bless America and the National Anthem. 11) Following a luncheon recess, Mr. Charles reconvened the meeting and introduced Mr. Andrew Fohl, President of the St. George Catholic Union and welcomed him to this meeting. He informed Mr. Fohl that the merger vote was unanimous on the part of William Penn Association for the merger of the two societies. The next procedure would be the signing of the merger agreement and allied papers and then same will be submitted to the Pennsylvania Insurance Department and the New Jersey Insurance Department for their final approval. 12) Mr. Fohl thanked the Board for the opportunity to address them. He expressed that heritage was a great influence on this merger. He was sorry to MINUTES . . . (Continued on Page 17)
