189 ALLIANCE, OHIO Our deepest sympathy to our National President, Mr. Elmer Charles at the death of his beloved wife, Mary. Her death came at the time when we were getting ready to celebrate the birth of Christ. I am sure our dear Lord celebrated the joy of Christ’s birth by having Mary Charles brought to him in heaven. He wanted her for one of his angels in Heaven. This reporter will always remember the anniversary of her death, with a prayer, for the date of her death, is the date of your reporter’s birth. May she rest in peace. Las Vegas night was a fun night at the William Penn Hall. The William Penn Athletic Club was in charge of the event. John Barany did a fine job of being the auctioneer again this year. The ladies of the William Penn Athletic Club had their husbands as guests at a St. Patrick’s Day casserole dinner. An enjoyable time was had by all with games played ard prizes won! Mr. 'Jack Dugan, who underwent surgery is home from the hospital. We wish him a speedy recovery. Our sympathy goes out to Dorothy Miller at the sudden death of her husband Leroy. The social dinner will be held at the William Penn Hall, May 8, 1976. Marie Duruttya, Reporter 249 DAYTON, OHIO It was gratifying to see so many in attendance at our February meeting. This is the result of new members joining our Association during our “Bicentennial Membership Campaign”. We hope this trend will continue since there is strength in members. Much can be accomplished with greater attendance at our monthly meetings, which are held the 2nd Sunday of each month beginning at 2:00 p.m., at St. Stephen’s Church Hall, 1114 Troy Street. After our regular Branch meeting, Members of Director Albert G. Kertesz made a presentation regarding our trip to Hungary this summer. There were approximately 50 people in attendance with much enthusiasm. Director Kertesz explained the proceedures of obtaining Passports, Visas, International Driver’s Licenses, also helpful hints to the traveler. Interested people should call upon Director Kertesz with their questions or assistance in planning for the trip; Telephone 275-6654. After the presentation, Dr. Stephen E. Szabó showed slides of Hungary taken during one of his recent trips. This was followed with a social, and refreshments. It was a pleasure for Director Kertesz to personally host this party; and appeared to be a proper kick-off to an exciting venture. Anne Kertesz, Secretary Branch 249 705 MILWAUKEE,WIS. The Wisconsin Fraternal Congress held its 51st annual meeting in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on March 11, 1976. The William Penn Association was represented at this meeting by General Agent John J. Lippert, who is also manager of Branch 700 and 705. There were interesting speakers on the subject of the importance of fratemalism in today’s troubled world, and the contributions fraternals made to the economic and social life of the country. The legislative committee reported that Bill 643 will soon become a law. The Wisconsin Fraternal Congress will be well represented at Flag Day ceremonies in Fredonia, Wisconsin on June 14, 1976. 17
