As in the past, Branch 71 of Duquesne; Branch 89 of Homestead, and Branch 34 Pittsburgh, joined with Branch 226 in welcoming and entertaining approximately 300 youngsters for the Holiday Festivities. Of course, many of the children brought parents with them so that our over all turnout was excellent. Entertainment consisted of the singing of Christmas Carols - led by our own Gus G. Nagy - fantastic feats of magic performed by ace Magician Harry Albacher, which were immensely enjoyed by the adults as well as the children. Refreshments were served and then the big moment: Santa Claus arrived to present each child with a box of chocolates and a shiny 1976 Bicentennial silver dollar. The children were overwhelmed with their gifts and the entire party. Officers of the participating branches worked tirelessly during the planning stages before the party, and then at the event, to ensure a successful event. Following the Children’s Party, Officers and adult members of the four branches enjoyed an excellent dinner at the Duquesne Golf Club in the true spirit of Christmas and fraternal fellowship. This fine working relationship, displayed by our four branches, is without doubt the greatest contributory factor for the success of our Christmas Parties, Scholarship Fund Benefits, and all branch functions on a local level. On behalf of the Officers of Branch 226, we wish to take this opportunity to wish all William Penn Members the best of health and happiness in the New Year. Violet B.
