Tankovich, U.S. Army, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Tankovich, Zanes­ville, Ohio, is being assigned to the Depart­ment of Physics, United States Military Academy, West Point, N.Y. as an instructor. Capt. Tankovich was commissioned in 1967 and has served in Korea and Vietnam in the Infantry and Armored Cavalry Regiment. He has a Master’s degree in physics from the Naval Postgraduate school in Monterey, California. His decorations include Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Army Commendation Medal. He is married to the former Margar­et Ann Bays. Our best wishes go to him in his new assignment. Capt. Tankovich is the grand­son of Mrs. Anthony Tankovich, widow of Anthony Tankovich who was an Illustrious Member of the .Association and for many decades served as an Officer of Branch 129. Irene Voss, Br. Secretary 189 ALLIANCE, OHIO Cpngratulations to Mr. and Mrs. John Sera, of Cromwell, Conn., on the birth of a daughter, Amanda Lee, born December 20,1974. Grandparents are Mrs. Julia Sera and the late James Sera and Mr. and Mrs. Donald Morgan of McMurray, Pa. Little Amanda Lee, we are proud to say is a member of the William Penn Association. A social dinner was held at the William Penn Hall for its members with 175 in attendance. The new barbecue pit, newly installed in the kitchen was well used in having barbecue porkchops on the menu. Dancing was enjoyed to the music of “The Mark 4”. Our own Branch Manager, Michael Dunittya, who was quite active in music during his life time, entertained the dancers with a solo and selections with the band, playing the bass fiddle. Our sympathy is extended to Mr. Mike Bodo at the death of his brother Joseph. We are glad to see Mr. William Ince home from the hospital. Continued good health, Bill. The ladies of the William Penn Athletic Club are planning a picnic on June 29 at the Beechwwod Playground, at which time the ladies will host their husbands. Keep the date in mind ladies. With this type of support shown by all, and better attendance at our monthly meetings we could very well undertake more worthy projects. Correcting our error in the Jan­uary issue of the William Penn Life, our monthly meetings are held second Sunday of each month at St. Stephen’s Hall, 1114 Troy Street, at 2:00 P.M. This will serve notice that our Dayton Delegate District number 29 meeting will be held at the above location on Sunday, May 11th immediately following our branch meeting, for the purpose of electing our delegate to represent our District at the National convention in Pittsburgh this Sep­tember. It’s the “Magyar Club of Dayton” Ohio, chartered in 1965. The object of the Magyar Club is “Mutual Interest of Hungarian Culture”, and hap­pens to be the most active Hungarian club in Dayton and possibly in the state of Ohio. William Penn Association is well represent­ed among its membership. Through the efforts of one of its founding members and past president, National Director Albert G. Kertesz, the Magyar Club of Dayton has contributed generously to the William Penn Scholarship Foundation in previous years. Perhaps other similar type clubs throughout the country would find it meaningful to duplicate the endeavors of the Magyar Club of Dayton. Albert G. Kertesz 296 SPRINGDALE, PA. Our monthly meetings are well at­tended which provides for a fine social hour after the business meeting has been con­cluded. The Bowlers have been active and are on schedule for the League bowling. The char­tered bus to the National Tournament in Chicago is full. All entry forms have been submitted and we look forward to a success­ful tournament. William Penn 296 Belles and William Penn 296 Girls teams will bowl in the 37th annual State Tournament WBA. in Wilkes Barre, Pa. June 14 and 15. The following women members will participate: Leona Jaracz, Mary Suzio, Frances Spear­­nock, Jennie Wislie, Mary Weseloski, Janet Girard, Charlotte Greenwald, Mary Anton­­iono, Pauline Rulis and Carole Chelko. We all wish the girls good luck. The Entertainment Committee will make suitable preparations to celebrate, in 1976, the 60th Anniversary of the founding of the Branch. Many members attended the Veni­son Dinner of the United Church of Christ which was prepared by the Chief Elder, our National President Elmer Charles and his wife with her capable staff of volunteers from the Ladies Aid Society. We all had a wonderfull time. There are 18 people taking the Hungar­ian Language course under the tutelage of Rev. Imre Kovács. A total of $175.00 has been received from the Branch members in contributions to our Branch 296, one dollar per member per year for the William Penn Scholarship Foundation. Our thanks to all who have responded so generously to our appeal. We also thank the 1st State Savings and Loan Association Springdale Branch and its Man­ager Emma Beganyi for acting as desposi­­tory for this drive. Meetings are held the 4th Wednesday of the month at 7:30 P.M. in William Penn Room of United Church of Christ Hall, 130 Walter Lane, Springdale, Pa. Everyone is cordially invited to attend. 10
