_-L Continued from page 7 I am happy to be back to write about our Membership. Try to attend our next meeting and participate in the discussions. Refreshments are served after the meetings. Joseph J. Horvath, Reporter 16 PERTH AMBOY, N.J. The election of delegates and alternates to the National Convention will be held on Tuesday, May 13th, 1975 at the Eagle Hall, 388 Smith Street, Perth Amboy, N.J. at 8 P.M. Ann Hrahar, Reporter 18 DETROIT, MICH. Two major evemts have occurred in Branch 18 recently. One, a dream of long standing has finally come true! Branch 18 with financial help from the Ladies Auxiliary has purchased a building — the former Moose Hall located at 1410 Southfield Road in Lincoln Park. Although the building is ours we will not be able to take possession for about two or three more months or until the Moose moves to its new headquarters on*Fort Street. It will take a lot of work, paint, new fixtures, etc. to put the building in good order but Branch 18 officers and members are anxiously awaiting the time when they can get started on the renovation. Now you members, both old timers 'and new comers, will finally have a place of your own to patronize — a home of your own <to go to and be more than welcome all the time! As soon as all details have been worked out and the hall is ready for occupancy everyone will know about it, we promise! Another milestone has been removed — the merger of Branch 56 and Branch 18. Some of the officers of both branches seated at the head table. After months of meetings to decide all final details, this happy occasion took place the second Sunday in March at the VFW Hall. Thus, Br. 18 becomes the largest" branch in the William Penn Association with more than 4,000 members. All former Branch 56 members will be transferred to Branch 18 by the Home Office during the month of March. The officers of former Branch 56 merged with Branch 18 and will be as follows for the remainder of 1975: President S. Danko (18), four Vice Presidents F. Csiszár and A. Toth (18) and J. Horcsik and A. Koroknay (56), Recording Secretary E. President Danko (18) welcoming President Horcsik (56) Kubovics (18), Corresponding Secretary M. Molnár (56), Treasurer S. New (18), Controllers S. P. Danko (18) and S. Jurko (56), and seven Auditors F. Kató, F. Kender, B. Kocsis, J. Lochinger, J. Macker (18), H. Horcsik and L. Koroknay (56). In this manner we becpme one big happy family. The branch meetings are held the second Sunday of each month at the V.F.W. Hall, 1125 Fort Street, Lincoln Park at 2:00 P.M. When our new hall is ready naturally the meetings will be held there. We invite all former Branch 56 members to attend our meetings, we will be most pleased to welcome you one and all and become better acquainted. This merger has been the dream of many persons in the Detroit Area and now it has finally become a reality Now the only goal to achieve is to make Detroit the largest and best branch in the William Penn — one that promotes FRATERNALISM and the HUNGARIAN CULTURES! The Branch 18 Champagne Dance held on Saturday evening, February 8, 1975 at the Castaways Hall in Riverview was a huge success both socially and financially. Everyone who attended had a really good time including the notables from the Home Office (Mr. & Mrs. A. Stelkovics, Mr. & Mrs. J. Balia, Mr. G. Banes and Mr. & Mrs. G.Nagy) and the two embassaries from the Hungarian Embassy in Washington, D.C. The music, Frank Borisz and his Continental Orchestra, vyas terrific. The weather also cooperated until it was- time to go home. Everyone is looking forward to the next Champagne Dance. We were able to donate the proceeds from our raffle to the William Penn Scholarship Fund as well as give a donation to the Downriver Association for Retarded Citizens. Branch 18 Ladies Auxiliary members are working hard to make their Annual Card Party to be held on Wednesday evening, May 7, 1975, at the V.F.W. Hall a success. Plans are being formulated to make this affair even larger than last year with generous prizes, table prizes and a raffle to be offered also delicious pastry and coffee for the price of admission. A Queensway fashion show will also be held that evening. The ladies invite one and all to be sure to attend this affair — Wednesday, May 7, 1975, at the V.F.W. Hall at 7:00 P.M. See you there! Bowling is now getting down to the end of the season — Sunday, April 27, 1975. The bowling banquet tor the William Penn Mixed Bowling League will be held at the Budapest Supper Club on Saturday evening, May 17, 1975. John Molnár’s Funeral Home Team No. 1 is now in the top position at this writing but we shall have to wait until the end of April to see who emerges champions. Good Luck to all! Mr. & Mrs. Anthony Nelinger celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary at the end of January this year. A surprise dinner was given to the happy couple and everyone who attended had a good time. They wish to thank everyone who remembered them with cards, best wishes, the surprise dinner and everyone who cooked and baked for the occasion. May you both live to celebrate many more happy wedding anniversaries, Mr. & Mrs. Nelinger. Am most happy to report that Alexander Tirpák is now nicely recovering from very serious surgery that was performed on him recently. He is now at home enjoying the nursing of his beloved wife and family.
