Report of the Resolutions Committee Mr. Chairman, Officers and Delegates! The Resolutions Committee submits the following as its report of recommended resolutions to be adopted by the Convention: WHEREAS, Rev. Fr. Paul Bolvary participated in our opening ceremonies invoking God’s blessing, and adding dignity and reverence to our meeting, NOW, Therefore, Be and it is Hereby Resolved, that we extend our sincere and grateful thanks to Father Paul Bolvary who gave the invocation at our opening session, and WHEREAS, in the opening ceremonies of the Convention, Miss Helen Stipkovits led the delegates in singing of the National Anthem and Magyar Himnusz, accompanied by Mrs. Vincent Shatlock, NOW, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the general convention does thank these two for their presentations. WHEREAS, Rev. Imre Kovács conducted a most beautiful and inspiring Memorial Service in memory of our deceased members, NOW, Therefore, Be It Resolved that the Convention express Sincere thanks to Rev. Imre Kovács for conducting a truly inspiring memorial service and also giving benediction at the Banquet. WHEREAS, The President of the United States, Gerald R. Ford, sent telegraphic greetings to the Convention, and WHEREAS, Milton J. Shapp, Governor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, sent letter of greetings and well wishes, and WHEREAS, James A. Rhodes, Governor of the State of Ohio, sent us greetings, NOW, Therefore, Be and It Is Resolved that National President Elmer Charles, on behalf of the 28th General Convention, send a thankyou letter to President Ford, Governors Shapp and Rhodes. WHEREAS, The Honorable William J. Sheppard, Insurance Commissioner, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, took the time to honor us with his presence and to deliver a tremendous speech, NOW, Therefore, Be and It Is Resolved that Mr. Sheppard be sent a letter of thanks for addressing our General Convention and for having Mrs. Sheppard accompany him. WHEREAS, Rev. Louis Nagy offered the invocation at the Convention Banquet, and WHEREAS, this invocation instilled in all of us the sense of true brotherhood, NOW, Therefore, Be It Resolved that our appreciation be expressed to Rev. Louis Nagy for this invocation. WHEREAS, The Convention delegates and guests were privileged to hear a patriotic and fraternal address by Rev. Stephen Szilagyi, and WHEREAS, his speech inspired us to performing greater deeds of fraternal activity and service, NOW, Therefore, Be It Resolved that our appreciation be extended to Rev. Szilagyi for his fine speech. WHEREAS, during the Convention Banquet we were privileged to hear several excellent greetings, BE it Resolved that this General Convention extend thanks to the following for having dignified our Banquet program. Mr. Paul St. Miklossy, Treasurer, Hungarian Reformed Federation of America, Washington, D.C. Majority Commissioner of Allegheny County, Thomas J. Foerster. Mr. Zoltán Gombos, Editor-Publisher, Népszava and Szabadság. Mr. Andrew Fohl, Supreme President, St. George Catholic Union, Perth Amboy, New Jersey. Mr. John Radzyminski, President, Greater Pittsburgh Fraternal Societies. Leonard C. Staisey, Chairman, Allegheny County Board of Commissioners. WHEREAS, The Convention Delegates were honored with a Banquet, Delegates and their family members being guests of the Association, NOW, Be It Resolved, that a rising vote of thanks be given to the Officers and Directors for their consideration and generosity, and to Banquet Committee Chairman Julius E. Somogyi and Committee Members, Field Assistant to the President Gus G. Nagy, Mary B. Tomcsak, Mrs. Charles Dobay, Louis J. Spisak, Julius Telegdy, Steve Petruska and Anthony Vass. WHEREAS, the Banquet Program was presented in such a fine manner by the Toastmaster, BE It Resolved that our appreciation be extended to Vice President Louis L. Varga for doing such an excellent job as Toastmaster. WHEREAS, our stay at the William Penn Hotel was made pleasant and comfortable by the Management and Staff of the William Penn Hotel, NOW, Therefore, Be It Resolved that this Convention express thanks to the Staff of the William Penn Hotel. WHEREAS, our 28th General Convention concluded its business in an unprecedented three days, and WHEREAS, this was made possible through the efforts of the Officers, Executive Committee and Board of Directors, and WHEREAS, a format has now been established for future Conventions to be followed, NOW, Therefore, Be It Resolved that this General Convention give a rising vote of thanks to Chairman Charles and Vice Chairmen Balia and Varga for the efficient and fair manner in which the meetings were conducted. It was moved, seconded and adopted to accept the report of the Resolutions Committee. 86. The Chairman sincerely thanked the members of the Resolutions Committee for their efforts and for bringing forth such fine resolutions. 87. The Convention acknowledged receipt of a letter from Coloman R. Bertalan, President of Branch 45, Cleveland, Ohio, However, it was received after the By-Laws had been amended and could not be discussed by the Convention. 88. It was moved, seconded and adopted to accept the following resolution pertaining to the Uniform Fraternal Code. Resolution Resolved by the Convention that the Officers and Directors of the Association support the adoption of the Uniform Fraternal Code in Pennsylvania. 89. Mr. Charles informed the Convention that in conjunction with the forthcoming Bicentennial celebrations, the William Penn Association is promoting a trip to Hungary. Every member is urged to participate by selling policies for which they will receive credit towards this trip. Kits and brochures for the sale of these policies have been prepared and will be forwarded upon written requests. President Charles hoped many will participate in this program in order to make it a huge success. 90. It was moved, seconded and adopted that the William Penn Association purchase a new Hungarian Flag. 91. Director Sephen Danko thanked the Convention for re-elecing him to the Board of Directors. He pledged his continued support to work for the best interest of the Association and to promote social activities. He announced that William Penn Branch 18 is opening a new Hungarian Social Club in Allen Park, Michigan around November 1, 1975. He extended a cordial invitation to everyone to visit this new facility and partake of this enjoyable fraternal fellowship. He congratulated the National Officers, Board of Directors and especially the Executive Committee who worked so diligently during the past four years. 92. National President Elmer Charles stated that behind every successful executive is an efficient and conscientious secretary who makes his success possible. Mr. Charles proudly introduced his private secretary, Miss Frances A. Furedy to the Convention. Miss Furedy thanked the Convention for its recognition of her efforts and pledged continued maximum effort for the Association. 93. Mr. Charles sincerely thanked each and every member of the Home Office Staff who have worked long and many hours in order to make this Convention possible and complete its work in the prescribed time allotted. 94.
