Bicentennial Trip To Hungary The Board of Directors authorized and the Convention ratified the tour to Hungary in 1976, under the Association’s sponsorship. Final details have now been worked out and we are pleased to announce that arrangements have been made with Pan-American, the only carrier to fly directly from U.S.A. to Budapest. The flight will leave Pittsburgh International Airport Monday, August 16, 1976 and return September 7, 1976. The air fare and a one week land tour in Hungary with a one entry visa costs $525.00, those who do not want to participate in the land tour pay $380.00 roundtrip, subject to fuel cost increases, they must also purchase 21 day vouchers in sum of $162.00 which includes a one entry visa fee. Those who may want to visit a neighboring country such as Austria, Roumania, Czechoslovakia or Jugoslavia will pay an additional $2.50 for double entry visa into Hungary. This is an interesting tour, it covers some of the most famous areas of Hungary in Trans-Danubia (Dunántúl). The land tour includes bus, lodging and 3 meals per day. Double occupancy rooms with bath. The planned tour is as follows: 1st Day: Between 1:00 and 2:00 P.M. register in Hotel Budapest, Budapest II., Szilágyi Erzsébet-fasor 47. or Hotel Szabadság, Budapest VII, Rákóczi-ut 80. From 2:00 P.M. sightseeing in Budapest (Parliament,Heroes Square, Stadium, Margit-sziget, Fisherman’s Bastion), 6:30 P.M. Supper in the "Citadella” 8:00 P.M.Budapest Dance Ensemble program. 2nd Day: 8:00 A.M., after breakfast, leave Budapest for Szentendre (short city sightseeing),Visegrád (see the “Citadella”), Esztergom (tour the Cathedral and Treasury) 12:30 P.M. Lunch in the Fürdő-Hotel, Esztregom then travel on to Tatabánya, 2:00 P.M. visit the coal mine in Tatabánya. 4:30 P.M.Continue on the Tatabánya- Komárom-Győr highway. 7:00 P.M. Supper and quarters at the Rába Hotel, Győr. 3rd Day: After breakfast short sightseeing of Győr then continue to Pannonhalma (Visit the Abbey), lunch at Csorna at 1:00 P.M., then Kapuvár and Fertőd (Visit Castle) and sightseeing in Sopron. Dinner at 7:00 P.M. in the Fenyves-Hotel and quarters there too. 4th Day: After breakfast at 8:30 A.M. proceed to Sopron-Nagycenk (Visit the Széchényi Museum), then sightseeing in Kőszeg. Lunch at 1:00 P.M. on the Szabóhegy. After lunch continue on to Szombathely. Sightseeing in Szombathely and visiting Church in Ják, built in the Middle Ages. 7:00 P.M. supper and quarters in the Claudius Hotel. 5th Day: After breakfast at 8:30 continue on to Szombathely-Sárvar, Sümeg and Héviz. 1:00 lunch in Héviz. Opportunity to bathe in the mineral baths of Héviz. 5:00 P.M. on to Keszthely. 7:00 P.M. supper and quarters in Helikon Hotel. 6th Day: After breakfast at 8:30 tour of Keszthely then on to Badacsony, Tihany (visit the Abbey), Balatonfüred (visit Jókai’s Home). 1:00 P.M. lunch in the Balaton Restaurant Balatonfüred After lunch swimming in the Balaton. 5:00 P.M. on to Csopak (Wine sampling in the Mill Tavern) then on to Veszprém. 7:00 P.M. supper and quarters in Hotel Veszprém. 7th Day: After breakfast tour Veszprem’s well known sights, then travel to Székesfehérvár. Lunch at 1:00 P.M. in the dining-room of the Alba Regia Hotel. 2:00 P.M. visit the Videoton-TV-factory. 5:00 P.M. leave for Budapest, arrive at Engels Square bus station about 6:00 P.M. All those members, and you must be a William Penn member to participate in the Tour to Hungary, must report their intentions immediately to the Home Office. A $50.00 deposit is required for each participant. A second trip to Hungary leaves Pittsburgh International Airport Monday, September 13, 1976. Air Travel and 7 day land tour in Hungary costs $550.00 without land tour, flight only $405.00, subject of course to fuel cost increase. Each participant must provide his or her transportation to and from Pittsburgh. Most Air-lines, however, provide a domestic group travel for 10 or more persons at a discount. The $50.00 advance deposit is important because the seats will be alloted on a first come, first served basis and we can accommodate only 182 persons on each flight. The Association is having prepared a brochure about the Tour to Budapest in 1976. If you would like one of these Notice To All Members Our By-Laws provide that at the November Branch meeting the Branch President appoint a Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee then makes its report to the December Branch meeting. Chapter XI. Section 6 of the By-Laws provides that election of Branch Officers shall take place at the December meeting and those elected shall be installed into their respective offices at that same meeting. Members are respectfully requested to attend their Branch meetings, take an active part in the affairs of the Branch and if called upon to serve or to assist, be willing to do this for the good of the Branch, its members and the Association.
