VOLUME 10 APRIL, 1975 NUMBER 2 Notice Annual Scholarship Foundation Meeting ln compliance with Article IV, Section 1 of the By-Laws of the William Penn Fraternal Association Scholarship Foundation, Inc. the annual meeting of members is called for 1:30 P.M. Saturday, May 24, 1975 in the Chicago Marriott Motor Inn, near O’Flare Airport for the purpose of electing Directors and the transaction of any other business which may legally come before the meeting. All members who have paid their membership dues for 1975 are eligible to participate in this meeting and are cordially invited to do so. Also all Branches of William Penn Association who have paid their dues for the year 1975 are eligible to send one representative. All Branch Presidents are requested to furnish to the Foundation Secretary at the Home Office of the Association, prior to May 15, 1975 the name of the Branch representative and alternate who would attend in event the representative can not be present. All 1975dues must be in the hands of the Treasurer at the Home Office by May 15, 1975. Elmer Charles, President Fourth Annual Western Pennsylvania Scholarship Dinner-Dance The William Penn Association Branches of Western Pennsylvania and Greater Pittsburgh area are sponsoring a gala Dinner-Dance, Saturday June 14, 1975 in the Duquesne Golf Club, Common­wealth Avenue, West Mifflin, Pa. All members, friends and supporters of the William Penn Scholarship Foundation are cordially invited to attend, Your partici­pation will mean a fine social evening and help provide a valuable benefit to the College age students of the William Penn Association. The Committee has arranged for a deli­cious meal to be served at 6:30 P.M. after which there will be dancing to the fine rhythms of Mickey Schwartz and his well known orchestra. Tickets are available from the Officers of the following Branches: 34, Pittsburgh, Pa., 71, Duquesne, Pa., 89, Homestead, Pa., 226, McKeesport, Pa., 296, Springdale, Pa. Toth, Manager Branch 89 Assistants to the Co-Chairmen are: John Tusai, Manager Branch 34 and Roger Nagy, manager Branch 71 All those who are planning to attend should purchase tickets in advance, as we Continued on page 2 FRATERNAL WEEK WILLIAM PENN ASSOCIATION is joining the ninety-seven other fraternal benefit societies affiliated with the National Fraternal Congress of America in observing Fraternal Week, June 8 - 14, and in placing special emphasis on National Flag Day, June 14. Members of all of these societies — more than eleven million in total — are urged to remind all Americans on Flag Day that a rebirth of patriotism is needed to focus worldwide attention on the enduring values of our free society. All fraternalists are urged to celebrate at that time by holding and attending patriotic ceremonies honor­ing the flag. All fraternalists are also urged to call the attention of the general public to the importance of fraternalism and the many civic and community services it in­spires. It is requested that as many programs as possible be focused on the 1975 Fraternal Week theme which is, “Fraterna­lism Makes a Difference.” Many heads of states and municipalities, along with other leaders of government, have issued proclamations calling upon citi­zens to render appropriate attention to National Flag Day and Fraternal Week. Cigrand, 19 year old teacher and his students held the first recognized observance Continued on page 2 Chicago Is Ready For National Bowling Tournament The Chicago Local Committee is working feverishly to assure all participants and guests of the 1975 National Bowling Tournament of a memorable week-end. Both Branch 15 under its President Frank Balogh and Branch 24 with its President Charles Akai have their Committees out promoting this week-end of fraternal and social activity. The Luxurious Chicago Marriott. The Committee has arranged for an excellent orchestra which will provide us with fine music to dance to. The Banquet Committee is doing its best to fill the spacious grand Ballroom of the Chicago Marriott Motor Inn with members and friends. A fine menu has been selected to please the appetites of one and all who attend the banquet Saturday, May 24, 1975. Arrangements are being made to provide an excellent Hospitality Room for Friday evening May 23, 1975 to show all of our visitors what a hospitable fraternal group our members in Chicago are. The Holiday Bowls Lanes are ready for the William Penn bowlers to compete with one another for the prizes and honor of winning this annual event. Director Frank J. Wukovits, Sr. Tournament Administrator and Mr. Gus G. Nagy, Field Assistant to the President is the Coordinator of the Tourna­ment.
