studies in September of 1970 at St. John’s Seminary and Boston Theological Institute. In June 1973 he made his solemn perpetual vows and was ordained a Deacon a week later at St. Pamphilus Church, Pittsburgh, Ps. Since the fall of 1973, Father Jozik was assigned to St. Raphael Church in Medford, Massachusetts, doing parochial work while completing his studies for a master of divinity degree. After his ordination, he was temporarily assigned to St. Ann Parish, Marlboro, Massachusetts. He is currently furthering his education at St. Bonaventure University, Olean, New York. Fr. Josik is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jozik of 1106 Craig St., McKeesport, Pa. Father Jozik, his parents, brother and sister are all members of Branch 226, McKeesport, Pa. Our readers will remember the first editor of the “Verhovay Journal” which preceded our present publication. The new priest’s father, Albert Jozik (Jbczik), began work at the Home Office in February, 1940 as editor of the English “Verhovay Journal”. With the exception of a few years during World War II, he continued his employment with the Association, until 1963. Father Jozik’s mother, the former Margaret Vargo of Idamay, West Virginia, for years contributed articles to the Verhovay Journal. One series was entitled “WHERE THE NORTH ENDS AND THE SOUTH BEGINS.” She is presently an elemenary school teacher in the McKeesport Public School system. Father Jozik’s sister, Margie, is an elementary school teacher in Andover, Massachusetts; and his brother, Paul, recently graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education (with majors in Mathematics and Physics) from Edinboro State College, Edinboro, Pa. An aunt is Sister M. Assisium of the Mercy Order of Pittsburgh, Pa. His only living grandparent, Mrs. Alexander J. Vargo of Fairmont, West Vieginia, was unable to attend the First Mass due to illness. It is Father Jozik’s plan to celebrate a Mass at St. Peter’s Church in Fairmont when his grandmother is able to attend. It was gratifying to the family that the First Mass and the dinner reception were so well attended by William Penn officers, Home Office employees, and members of Branch 226. Out of town William Penners included cousins of Mrs. Jozik—Mrs. Stephen Kocsis and son Gilbert—of Cleveland, Ohio. William Penn officials and their wives who attended were: National Secretary and M rs. Albert J. Stelkovics, National Treasurer and Mrs. Julius E. Somogyi, Director and Mrs. John Sabo, General Counsel and Mrs. Gay B. Banes, Field Assistant to the President and Mrs. Gus G. Nagy. Congratulatory messages were received from: National President and Mrs. Elmer Charles, Vice President and Mrs. Louis Varga, Director and Mrs. Frank J. Wukovits, National Auditing Committee Member László Kereszti, former National President and Mrs. Julius Macker, and former Director Joseph S. Taylor. Representing the Home Office personnel were: Mr. and Mrs. John Lovász, Miss Frances Furedy, and Mr.and Mrs. John Tusai. Congratulatory messages were received from: Manci Allen, Helen Erdeky, Mary Kazar, Jolán Kelemen, Eva Lehoczky, and Marie Tady, also of the Home Office. Branch 226 members who attended included: Mr. and Mrs. Alex S. Meszar, Joseph Lenart, Mrs. Julius J. Lenart, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Buck, Alex Goydan, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Vernyi, Miss Helen Stipkovits, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stipkovits, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Noon, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Domencic, Miss Irene Grebur and Mrs. Edward Linderman. The family of Fr. Jozik is especially grateful to the five William Penners who by their voluntary and gracious services contributed much to the success of the dinner reception. Many thanks to Irene Grebur and Margaret Lindennan for arranging the flowers on the tables. Very special thanks to Jub'us Somogyi and John and Ethel Sabo who received the guests and directed them to their assigned tables. Thanks also to John Sabo for acting as Toastmaster, and for the hours he and Ethel spent in making up the table assignment list. The chores were considered pleasant by Ethel and John Sabo, and Margaret Lindennan, since they are relatives of the new priest. 296 SPRINGDALE, Pa.
